Jesse and Mike have both helped me spend a lot of my money, and I have learned a lot from them, They should be band for spending my money, not calling out a troll..

    LOL...

Mike sold me his old turntable not long after I joined here, that alone has cost me a lot of money... :o

I'm glad your back Jesse, and it has been stated many times it wouldn't be the same without you...

    Peace..

Nice to see ya Troy. Yeah, gone are the days of your head posted on everything from a snail to an Alien.....might offend somebody these days.

There is still a few of us around from back then still trying to keep the joints family atmosphere. Not an easy task either. Good news is we have many new members who "get it", who understand what this place is all about even though it's just a shadow of it's old self. It's a brave new world pal, we Dinosaurs just have to learn to live in it because nobody wants to live in ours anymore.

That said, I could only think of Clint Eastwood with that disgusted look on his face saying "Swell". That about sums up how some of us older members feel.

In any event, hows things shakin' with you ? Bring us up to date.

I would also like to add that I've hosted many events as well. So many now that I've forgotten the number. I've never used the polkfest moniker because for me, it is more about the guys here keeping in touch and less about whatever gear is there. The problem with this hobby is it becomes such an isolated one if you are not careful. We need guys willing to step up to the plate not for Polk, but for the hobby in general.

With that said, this last event Polk sent me a pair of the t50 speakers. That was the first time I've received any products from them and it all started via conversations here on the forum.

So true. Or hobby is undeniably in decline. We cling to the bastion of great sound, in the face of ear buds, sound bars, HTIBs, and MP3s. We cling to it for the same reason guys still make solid wood furniture in their garage, the same reason guys still use a camera (Not an Iphone) to take important photos, the same reason guys still take the time to BBQ a choice cut of meat -- Because QUALITY matters... Being active on this forum (and others like it) is important - It binds us together, and helps us weather the storm of "sameness". It lets us know that there are others out there that truly CARE about QUALITY.

It is important for us to introduce others to the world of high quality audio, because if we don't it will surly die. I recently built a small (at least by our standards) system for a very good friend. This is the same one I inquired about in another thread, regarding the differences in Polk bookshelf speakers. I scored a great deal on local CL on a pair of mint NHT 2.5 speakers. I added a Emotiva USP1 pre, an Oppo 103, and I refurbed and mkII'd a Carver M500t to round it out. Total cost of the system came in under 2k. We set it up while his wife was out, because going with floorstanders required a total re-work of the living room. When we fired it up, he was blown away - The detail, the imaging, - It sounds really great. I asked if he thought his wife would go for the new layout of the living room. He just grinned, and said he didn't care. As an added bonus, SHE loves it too, and wouldn't think of changing the room now. To me, that's the power of quality.

To piggy back on what daddyjt said.

My buddy has recently become a Polk fan after I suggested he buy a PSW650 sub many years ago to mate with his Cerwin Vega's. I always was talking to him about clarity and separation and soundstage, etc. All the things we love about our systems and how is 7.1 HT still didn't sound as life like with those attributes as my system with a single pair of SDA's did. He thought I was nuts.

He recently bought an entire Polk RTiA line up and he remarked, I finally get what you were talking about. I can't believe how crappy the Cerwin Vega's sounded. He said I was right and he had to hear it to believe it and this was just running the main floor standers since he's still building a dedicated HT room in the basement.

He's completely stoked about his new media room being all Polk and ready to really enjoy it.
