Ken - Vanilla enhancement

Ken, can you ask Vanilla to put a 10 minute timer in editing a post to NOT display it has been edited by the poster. Many times I make a post, and as soon as I see it I realize I left out a word, or some other error. For whatever reason, it really irritates me to fix it within a minute and then see the red message the post has been edited.

Also, can you get them to stop removing the posting time after the post is a day old?

Thank you.

    +1

I'm notorious for posting before proofreading. It really makes me look illiterate when 72.6% of my posts show that they've been edited within five minutes, when clearly I'm only 21.7% ungrammatical.

I have that problem big time, My mind is thinking one thing but my hands are not listening very well and like to post something different. It's like my hands have a mind of their own, or is it my split personality?

That would be nice; I am in the same boat as other folks above.

It is still easy to miss something in Preview. I know when I proofread I know what I meant to say, and sometimes I just read over the mistake. Then later, usually after posting, the error just jumps out.

    Hello BlueFox,
As a partial answer to your request:

"Also, can you get them to stop removing the posting time after the post is a day old?"

Vanilla has responded that after the day changes and the time stamp becomes the date, just rest your cursor over the date and the time stamp will be shown.

Ken, many people now use tablets to access the Internet, so there is no cursor to 'rest'. I only use a computer to read audio forums while at work, and that is only briefly.

And you don't know who is online using a tablet because you can't hover over the avatars, so I don't know who I can harass, unless I have their avatar fused into my memory.

According to Vanilla there isn't a way to add a timer to the edit function resulting in an "edited by..." notice. I'm sorry.
I understand about the problem with no cursor when using a tablet.

Interesting. Other forum software, including the previous version used by Polk, has a timer that prevents the 'edited by' message from displaying until the timer expires. Oh well, thanks.

Nice! We should all start using his avatar. In fact, we should have masks made with that image. It will represent our love for vBulletin. Instead of V For Vendetta, it will be V For vBulletin. In a future British tyranny, a shadowy freedom fighter, known only by the alias of "V", plots to overthrow Vanilla forums with the help of a young woman.

I know Vanilla is here to stay, but I thought one of the main reasons for switching to Vanilla was to be able to share a post on your Twitter and Facebook pages. I'm on my tablet now, so I don't know how to do it, but when I'm on my computer, I often inadvertantly pass my pointer over something and an annoying popup appears enabling you to share a post. Is there a way to shut off that feature because it really is annoying. I'd like to see a show of hands for the people who have actually used that feature. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Perhaps you'd like to share this post.
