No need to feel inferior. We all learn from each other. It was just my turn/time to purchase. In just over 3 months I replaced everything in my system but the oppo 105. I wonder what might be next....

You bought the SLP05? Dang man, you just keep going.

I did think about selling you mine because when I thought about it, I wanted a black one and I know there's a black one for sale.

Either way, that's great man... PM me the price you got it for, I like to know what these guys are picking up these days. Do you have a link to the sale? I want to see the unit...

    Welcome to the 05 club!

    Next time get the 211FE!

Yeah, I got the silver one. For some reason I like silver products. Should match the Rogue's pretty well.

I'm going to roll in some tubes into the gain stages of the 05.

What I really want is that they come out with like a 15... would be killer, I bet.

I've been eyeballing (you know) the ARC Ref 10... freaking unreal build, though awfully expensive.

Are you using the Oppo as source and DAC? Once you get your pre and have things dialed in, let me know. I have my Chord, a Lampizator on stand by and a tube DAC coming in. The tube DAC is 24/196, but to me, beat the Meitner and a certain MSB.

Congrats on the purchase. As of late, you guys are truly putting together some higher end systems that for most, are mere wet dreams.

So, its been a couple of weeks. I have the Rogues in place and the Cary SLP05 pushing them.

My system has made a very good progression. When I got the Rogues connected and still had the P5 I could instantly tell that the difference in separation was so much better. The amps are natural sounding and have tamed down the highs that were sometimes present with the A21 on bad recordings.

Then I installed the Cary SLP05. It is a great preamp and might just be the last preamp I every buy. The control that it provides is not something that I have ever had the chance to spend much time listening to. The clarity, naturalness, separation and soundstage really pull me in and I find myself listening for hours at a time. The bass is very accurate but may have lost just a slight bit of slam.

I am still dialing everything in and have not had a change to try out the A21 on the bottom and the Rogue M-180's on the top. I am currently looking at changing out some of the IC's and the SC's (once again). After bringing in the new equipment and the reconfiguration of the rack some of my interconnects are not long enough.

So far I am very pleased with the upgrades and look forward to enjoying it for at least a couple of weeks. :)

Just a thought . . . I'll be Dynamatting the thin metal 180 cases and I'm considerng switching-up to HiFi Tuning Classic Gold fuses. . But, there's 6 fuses per mono@$80 each mono?? Not sure if that'll pay-off

    Glen -

Please let me know how the upgrade goes. The fuses sound interesting but I question the path they are in. The reason I say that is because the other night I went to bias my tubes. When I removed the cage from the left amp I nicked one tube. I didn't worry much about it but when I got to that tube in the biasing it was reading zero. I reset the switch and checked the amp for how it was playing. The tube was lite, the amp played fine. I then tried to check the bias again. It once again was reading zero.

The next day I called Rogue and talked to tech support. His suggestion was to check the fuse and that if it was blown that would more than likely be the reason I could not get a reading. That started me wondering if the fuse was only in the path of the bias meter and not in the signal path. If it is only in the bias path then I am not sure the fuse upgrade would improve sound quality.

I have not had a chance to replace the fuse but the amp is working as expected.

    Hey Marvin and Skip -

I am not looking to upgrade my fuses that was Glenn above. I just need to replace one of mine. But I do think it would be interesting to see/hear the results he finds with new ones. Power cables are on the list next.

Several moths ago, I did ask Rogue, (the helpful guy that answered the phone, not Mark O'brien the owner). Although he never tried upgraded fuses, he did not seem to think it was worth while, Cost wise. But, now that the fuses are deeply discounted, what the F?
