    LOL..you paid $17,000 in property taxes a year? In MN, I was paying $2000 for a $200,000 house. MN taxes are horrible as well. So Either NJ has a totally different property tax system, or you're a millionaire.

    Yea, that is a LOT. A $300K house in Charlottesville will cost you about $2,850 a year, or 95 cents per $100. So you'd need a $1.8M home to pay $17K in property taxes per year. I guess it's good to be in the South. :)

    A $500,000 home in nj (which is a $200,000 home in SW Florida) can easily have 12-20 K in property taxes.

    My Florida home will be about $3K in property taxes and no state income tax...And the sales tax is only 6%.

    Needless to say I am happy to be in FL. Taxpayers are leaving NJ in DROVES because they are being taxed to death. Honestly the only answer I can come up with in NJ regarding the high taxes is that the government has their hand in your pocket and the only way it's going to get any better is for business and taxpayers to leave and let the government fend for itself.

    But that is behind me now and I am so looking forward to setting up my HT this weekend!.\

    I would imagine we will be moving down there at some point. My wife brings it up at least once a month. Her sister lives there and is always trying to talk us into it :smiley:
    I am looking forward to it, love the heat...lot's of great places to eat too, compared to here anyway.

    Looks like property tax in Jersey is about the same as Texas. I knew our property taxes are higher than surrounding areas but benefitted from no state income tax. I guess the benefit is Texas has one of the strongest job markets and generates more revenues than most countries.

    Making progress:

    Picked up this nice media center piece of furniture and I am up and running. I have decided to carpet over the tile floor in the den area and that will be done next week so I wi have to break it down again. Tile looks nice but acoustically it is a nightmare.

    The LSiM's are sweet and are getting better with each day. The 706 is by far the best C channel Polk has ever produced and the whole HT setup with the new Oppo 103D and my old Marantz AV7701 and Sunfire TGA make a nice package

    Today I totally tore down the room again and had it carpeted... Still have some wire management to do tomorrow. Room sounds much better with carpet in the floor.

    Under the carpet... cement slab home...would have had to call in the Army Corp. of Engineers to go underneath, Listening to some music today... The LSiM's are way more musical than the the LSi's and enjoying listening to them loosen up a bit...and still getting dialed in and placed but overall I am very impressed with the LSiM's versatility... and they are real purdy too...gonna remove the rubber feet when I got them placed optimally.
