Having spent a couple of years living in the (CA) "Bay Area", I can tell you... after a full year, when next winter rolls around, you'll (probably) be doing that, too! :-P
Now, in NH this morning -- it was 18 degrees (Fahrenheit, that is), sunny & windy. Mrs. H and I walked down to get the newspaper (our newspaper box is on the main road, about a 1 mile round trip) -- it was... brisk.

We bought a house in October and since they don't build one without flooring I was forced to go with a carpet. I am still debating whether I will keep the carpet on the theater room or not (most likely not) but everywhere else it must go. Rugs and room treatment will keep the sound in check.
Media room is still a mess as it's not a high priority at the moment:
I came from Dallas so the real estate prices are a bit higher here in Tampa but still quite affordable. We opted for new construction in north Tampa.

North of Tampa was one of my primary considerations but will be doing some work on the east coast near FT Lauderdale so decided I would locate about 2 hours from Tampa and Miami and here it is. Spent some time late this week and weekend doing some landscaping.. seems like the right time of year... I LOVE palm trees and I found a nursery who specializes locally... they grow their own... (palm trees) and worked out a deal with them to come and plant some for me. They really have it down to a science... they have a crew that comes and preps the "holes" and then the have a crew that comes and plants them and they give you step by step instructions on watering and providing for these beauties.

Pretty cheap living here in SW Ohio still. Other than the weather, not too much to complain about. Things do keep going up however and Ohio has a goofy way of funding education. The county just south of us is one of the fastest growing in the state. I think in 30 or 40 years Cincinnati and Dayton will just be one big metroplex.
