For once you go to the supermarket with the wife and the piped music is what you thought was a "progressive" rock band...

No, that's when you know you are so old you have Victorian values about women and who should do the grocery shopping.

When you remember the days of collecting S & H Green Stamps at the grocery store and other stores, gas stations etc to fill up your stamp books. We also had Texas Gold Stamps down here in Texas in the HEB stores.

I grew up in England, and there they were S&H pink stamps and another brand called Green Shield stamps. I remember getting on he bus and going to a couple of towns over to get my Mum a hair drier on Green Sheild stamps at one of their redemption centers.

Oh Man, Sorry, Your post came across wrong to me. The reason mine said "for once you go to the supermarket with your wife" means that I don't go with her too often, and she is the expert at getting things on sale, etc. I like cook as much as my wife, but let me into the supermarket to buy my own ingredients, and we talking 50% more expensive !!

S&H Green stamps and "Plaid" stamps were real big in the NY metro area.

I go shopping once a week for all the things that Heckyll and Jeckyll never bring home for me on their grocery shopping excursions.

Wise chips, some Sunkist orange, some kabuchis, some cheese, bread, mustard and ham for lunch during the week, and I'm good.

    When $1.00 got you:

    1. Bleacher seats at Fenway
    2. a Saturday double feature matinee
    3. TWO gallons of gas

    TV was FREE!
There were only 6 teams in the NHL, and only 6 channels on TV(ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Ch. 38 & 56).
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

LOL - the wife and I have started calling stuff like this "sleep injuries", as usually this sort of thing happens when you get up in the morning and can't remember doing anything that would cause it during waking hours.
