It is a C2300 not MC2300. You will need to have 20A circuits for those MC1201s to truly enjoy them - good luck with those in an apartment setting. The phono stage is top notch on the C2300 preamp. A used C2300 goes for about $3K and 1201s for about $9 - 10K for the pair. I thought you were out of work.

Honest/newb question: Why would you need that much power unless you were trying to fill a large venue or outdoor space?

Seems like it would be overkill for indoor listening and by the time you'd get those VU meters really bouncing you'd be damaging your ears.

Lots and lots of headroom will make it really shine at lower volumes with deep deep notes. Not to mention that is will absolutely knock your socks at ear splitting levels.
If I remember correctly, it takes about 2200 watts of power to reproduce without distortion the cannon shots in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. With those monoblocks, he could do it.

not to mention the explosion in Independence Day the White House explosion takes about 600watts to also reproduce correctly.

He sure does buy a lot of this stuff. Now unemployed. Wonder if pfb is going to ever take the plunge and get something real... like a house? You will always be playing in the minor leagues as long as you are paying rent to someone.

Again, we're missing out on more reality TV gold!

There are several more episodes of "Here Comes Polkie Boo Boo!" presenting themselves right before our eyes.

I've gathered he hasn't yet received this gear yet. The delivery of it all smashed....there's an episode!

The ensuing battle with UPS/FedEx to get payment (when the gear was sent uninsured!)....there's an episode!

Paying for it all with his accumulated vacation payout money that has a "stop-payment" on the check from his former employer.....there's an episode!

Provided the gear does get to him unscathed, he cranks it up in his apartment and blows his speakers out.....there's an episode! Apartment eviction for breaking the noise ordnance......(you guessed it)...there's an episode!

That's reality TV gold, Jerry, gold!!

Cool, thanks pitdogg2 and Sci-fi Polk Guy for the honest responses. I understand headroom and dynamic swings and the need to have some power reserves on tap, but 1200w seems like an awful lot of "reserves"!

I guess I won't really understand it until I experience it!

If I remember correctly, it takes about 2200 watts of power to reproduce without distortion the cannon shots in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. With those monoblocks, he could do it.

That would depend on the sensitivity of the loudspeakers being used and the acoustic space ("room") loading them. Generating 2200 watts for short time durations (as required by the transient explosion of cannon fire, e.g.) isn't really such a tall order -- heck, most boom boxes and HTIBs will do it ;-)

Wonder how many watts those 1812 Overture canons would require on this thing:

Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

From what the guys are saying your electric useage will certanly draw attention from your power authority, ie. thinking you have a grow house going. I'd be happy w/ a mac 2105 or if wanting to go really big a mc2300. **** luck w/ the gear. Oh yea power this.

Lets see a pic of the amps, write your username and the date on a piece of paper and make sure it's visible in the picture. That will prove your case. :)

This seems like a more genuine comment unlike the others and to that I will answer.

Well the seller does not have any feedback but I thought no big deal since using paypal. I then checked the paypal transaction and he is a non us verified customer so I called paypal and they said its legit, the seller has had a few usa transactions. Now the guy aint responding despit saying they would be out the next day after the order. Then I ask him last night what the deal is. I get this message saying "keep in touch" Nothing else about my concerns? I just got a weird feeling so I decided to google image search the lising and found many shady looking personal ads and listings with the same image from as far back as april etc.

The preamp was about 1k under market value and the the mono blocks were between 2 and 3k under market value. Should I be worried now about this?

How can some one scam you with paypal?

Am I being silly and impatient?

Why do people think they look cool in a fedora?

You straight up called that shizzle.

The only reason I know PFB is real is because I bought a cd player from him when I joined the forum. The transaction was smooth and the unit was fine....so I don't know...musta got lucky.

I went through this thread line by line. PFB bought some killer amps. Everybody chimed in. His "spidey sense" started tingling for no appearnt reason and with no explanation things are spinning out of control again. I dont know what to make of him or his posts, but i think its a cat and mouse game that he enjoys. For the most part, potentially harmless, but i for one, dont need another goofy distraction, especially on a site that i frequent often and have found to be full of great people and information. Im going ignore list.......

You know in your gut when something aint right Debron and if you have read the thread you would understand my concenrs regarding this. Shame on all the people that say I never even bought anything, who in their right mind would make something up and start a thread about buying something that they never did?

I buy killer amps and preamps all the time, I bought a big honking Theta Dreadnought 3 today to pair up with my new Classe cp500 preamp I just received. Everything went and is going smooth with that deal and should sound great.
