Stands for Monitor 10's? and a question about spikes
Hey guys,
anyone know of any good aftermarket stands for Monitor 10's?
There was a guy on Ebay making speaker stands for a while, and had some that looked like they might work.
Anyone using stands for Monitor 10's - anything to offer on the height/angle? Wish anything were different, etc?
Should I be spiking everything?
we don't spike speakers at the stand supporting surface, correct?
should everything be spiked at the floor?
why do we do this? Is it so that cabinet acoustics are not lost to the supporting surface, or otherwise deadening

10's were designed to be used with stands...I still have the original Polkstands that I bought with them...I'm sure there is info on them somewhere on here...on aftermarket ones too...Even a milk crate would work..just as long as they weren't sitting flat on the floor...

I lost my original ones in a flood in the 90's and looked for some replacements for years. Last year I picked up a set but cannot remember who they are made by. They are a natural wood look to them and I like them. They do not have the angle the original ones had but they work. I'll look when I go home at lunch and see if there is a name on them somewhere. I think there was plans on here for the original ones that came with the 10's.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

not realizing the thread was from 2007.
You definitely want the 6 degree slope. It's for proper time alignment of the drivers.Home Theater/2 Channel:

If only it was that easy Sometimes I am spoiled by how easy aluminum sheet metal is to work with. nothing is easier to form, rough cut, drill, rout and burr.

Not for sale at this time, but I will let you know if I make another set. -
Thanks but just teasing ,though it would be nice to take the easy way out. my table saw burned up a couple years ago. been cutting all my wood project with a 12" miter saw. I 'm working so much Overtime I been putting this off, as I have to work 10 hours a day & Saturdays for about 10 weeks now - contract says they can only make me work 2 Saturdays in a row and the 3rd I get off. this weekend I have off,
So I'm trying to debate if I can hand cut most of this project 1st thing I need to do is make a list of what ronnie bought and go shopping....after some coffee though!2 ch- Polk CRS+ * Vincent SA-31MK Preamp * Vincent Sp-331 Amp * Marantz SA8005 SACD * Project Xperience Classic TT * Sumiko Blue Point #2 MC cartridge

Ronnie was pretty crafty. If you make all your cuts right, all the cut edges are hidden or face the rear. Just sand them smooth, and use some matching stain.Home Theater/2 Channel:
