I agree that this is one hell of a deal for these speakers...someone needs to jump on these asap. If I were within a few hundred miles, I know I would be all over these.

Y'all settle down now, I'm taking these! I've been in touch with Larry by PM and am working out the logistics details (losing lots of sleep over the process too - WAY excited here!).

Steve (gudnoyez) has been extremely helpful in working with me on some options and hopefully, I'll have the details in place very soon.

This is really gonna make him (teekay?) happy.
Just look at the work on them...
New wood tops, new grill cloth, new tweeters, larry's rings, crossover, dynamat, BH, spikes, custom IC cable, binding posts... (more?).
I guess just that upgrade work will be more than the price if one doesn't have their own skill.

I'd have snagged them but bad timing.

Good God, Larry!! When I told you that there was nobody I'd trust more than you to pack those beautiful speakers properly, I had no idea....that is just incredible! Seriously, when I saw that picture, my heart skipped a beat...this is really happening!! So I say, "Thank you, so very much!" again and again.

I tell you all, I'm more amazed and impressed everyday by this brotherhood we call Club Polk. The lengths that people here go to to take care of each other - even when they've never actually met each other - is beyond belief to me. I've had many interactions with CP members both inside and outside of the forum and have never felt like I was dealing with anything less than a close friend. This speaker transaction is just the most recent example of the interactions of which I speak.

Another related fine example: I was figuring out how to get these speakers half way across the country - How long of a drive? Nine hundred seventeen miles...each way! Yikes! Do I know anyone along the way I can stay with?, etc., etc. Should I fly out, rent a car and drive back? Hmmmm...I had the MSP-DEN flights and rental car rates checked out and was about to pull the trigger when Steve (gudnoyez) - another Polkie that I've never actually met in-person - contacted me. He said he knew a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy who was related to a guy who knew another guy who just so happened to have access to loading docks in close proximity to Larry's place in Denver and to my place here. He (Steve) told me the few things I had to work out and, well, you saw Larry's packing job above, and he would take care of the remaining details. Had he not stepped up, instead of sitting here with a cold Modelo Especial at my side, typing this out, I'd be in a rented hatchback of some sort somewhere in the darkness heading east on I-80, bound and determined to get the whole 917 covered as quickly as I could! My mouth would be raw from chompin' on sunflower seeds and my guts queasy from copious amounts of Mt. Dew being consumed. I'd be exhausted and wired all at the same time...

So....bottom line....I find the actions of these two extraordinary people to be just unbelievable and find that we're very fortunate to have people like this hangin' with us here at CP. And that's all I got to say about that.

Also, thanks to others (you know who you are) who contributed additional suggestions on how to get this done smoothly and/or cost effectively.

Hoo-Boy, I'm excited! Bastages better not be scratchin' the 1Cs!!.......OK, OK, so it's not my first Modelo of the night.

Come on, I opted out thinking a fellow Polkie will have a cross-country tour, not enjoying beer while the speakers come over on their own.

The speakers are Minnesota bound Terry got a heck of a deal $93.00 to ship via fed ex freight priority. Teekays got the tracking# and will keep us updated Terry quit lurking and give us the status as it comes. I'am as excited as you are expect to get a review and some pictures once they show up. No worries as Larry did one heck of a packing job.

    Ken usually does.

That IS the only way to ship big speakers. Reminds me of when I got my 2.3TL's. Shipped freight truck coast to coast, strapped to pallet for either $225 or $275....I can't remember anymore.

Congrats on the speakers, if I wasn't working I would have driven to Denver for these from VA and enjoyed the scenery along the way. The distance would be a non-factor considering what the return was. Glad they went to a member, I do remember that build thread...awesome pair of speakers, I wish I could hear them.

    Enjoy.
