This hack has a subtle difference for me. The last time we were hacked my view switched from widescreen to the narrow default. This time all posts are displaying as been read, and I expect there are new posts. Also, this seems to be a different hacker. I swear it seems as if once these guys discover an easily hacked or spammed site they let others know.

Damn, been trying to get in for awhile now, seems like the only way is to go to the home page and click on Join the Polk Forum. Then try to post a new thread anywhere and you will be prompted to enter your username and password. Trying to get in using www.polkaudio.com/forums isn't working anymore.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I find it kinda funny in a way, we were hacked by someone pushing.....politics of all things.

Either Polks systems are that ancient, or the hackers are that good. In any event, that's why I put out as little info as possible out on the web. I know we have had a few threads on hackers, but that is the wave of the future for thieves. This hacker was just pushing his support for you know who. I can imagine cyber security is a booming industry too.

Why would anybody want to hack an audio forum?

Its just amazing how some folks just do not have better things to do with their time.

I could not log onto this site using the normal red/gray display option because all the POLK logos are MISSING above, as well as the LOG IN box! There is now a GIANT GAZA display option that seems to be the only one you can actually log into this site with. And WHO is directing that OPTION, I wonder?

There is no doubt that there are hacker forums and once the PF was exploited, every other hacker now knows this is an easy mark.

Wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't happen again.

This is akin to crank phone calls when I was a kid. There's no reason to hack a forum like this, since there's no personal information other than some ones personal email.
On the other hand, they could be trying to find there way into the main Polk site, and that's a different thing all together.

Got onto their Facebook site and by all the "WTF ?!" comments, it looks like at least 200 sites were nailed. Had to use their "Translate" for a lot of comments, but the motive seems to be "We want to get our message out !".
I'll admit that it was a catchy little ditty, but ... hacking "knittingneedles.com" and "Socks-R-Us", etc doesn't seem to me like it would be hitting the right target audience.

BTW, anyone else notice that the singers singing their little song in Syrian-ese did so with what was decidedly a Canadian accent ? Just sayin' .

This kind of site is probably an ideal target for real hacker if it's popular with people that have online accounts. With the right sql injection this site could try to make requests to popular bank or credit card sites and if you had one of the said sites logged in on another browser tab. they can make transactions as if they were you. Or they could just post embarrassing crap to your facebook or twitter account.
