This is a bad photo, but it shows one my MWs. I wanted to point out the red spot of point that identifies the positive connection. The black/blue wires connect to the red dot connector, and the white where there is no red dot. Your speakers may differ.

As you can see, the Hurricane nuts protrude slightly, but they are not in the way at all.

I tried **** these into the MDF with no adhesive with limited success. On the second go around, I used a drop of Gorilla Glue on each. They've been drying for about 90 minutes. I'll give it another half an hour.

I purchased a couple of 13"x13" ceramic tiles to place the spiked speakers on. I can't wait to hear the difference in the sound.

Here is the completed project - speakers on spikes on ceramic tile. If anyone has questions about this mod, please feel free to ask. People here were so willing to help me, I want to pay it forward.
BTW, I have a spare original Polk SDA cable (blade-to-blade) that I purchased from Helen at Polk before the mod. First $35 + shipping takes it. (It's brand new; original cost with tax and shipping is about $50).

Moofy, I'll take the B/B cable. I plan to make one eventually, but most of my plans are slow in developing. I'll send you a PM.
What's under the carpet? Unless it's hardwood, you may want to try simply piercing through the carpet--You'll likely get more out of your spikes that way. Being up on that tile will be helpful in fine-tuning where you want them to be, though.
Nice project and good documentation. Cool that Jake was able to help you out. I just completed my 2B crossover upgrading and am in the early hours of burn-in. Happy listening!

It's wood of some sort, but probably not hardwood. Contractor special flooring, no doubt. I just did a little listening and they sound sublime...and still hours to go to get them burned in. Very exciting.
