Well I'm glad I'm using my I pad. It easy to clean the vomit of it. That sir is kind of sick and disturbing but funny.

This is a MASSIVE, MASSIVE PAIN in the A$$. How's that for my first post! I'm in the market to build what I'll call an "SRT Seismic PLUS" system, and having to essentially write, "I WILL NOT TALK IN CLASS" 100 times but much worse, is the poorest way to control a spam problem. Which is how I'm interpreting this to be.

What's to stop an a$$hole from posting only one, single letter, "z" in a post, and repeating that 100 times?? Writing/posting is something I've never liked nor done. So, now I've not only got to pay $$$ for the products I'm looking for, but I also must WASTE MY VALUABLE TIME for the "privilege" to buy "used gear." AND, hard-to-find "used gear" at that.

The rules are in place to keep the flea market a reputable place to buy and sell. A few have come here to run up a post count and hock their wares which is why this was put in place. I am sorry that you disagree but those are the rules. Alternatively, if there is something you are looking to purchase post a thread to that affect and have the sellers contact you. Cheers.

There are other places to buy stuff. I think 110 post is a small price to pay, as some sites charge you to buy, and there are others that will charge you just to look.

You sound like one of those folks that just want to sell and could care less about the community, which is fine, it happens. Not everyone wants or has a need to be a 10K poster or help anyone....its normal internet behaviour. What sets you apart is the fact you ranted so poorly about it when you could have just asked the question. All it does is throw a red flag on you and I assure you, all the folks that have done what you do get put on the list.

We control SPAM almost perfectly and as far as the just lettering posts, that gets hit up as well. We're not perfect here but we care and we would like our forum to be not only a welcoming place but a safe place to do what you want. I'm a member on many other corporate websites, as well as an employee of Polk Audio and this is by far the best place when it comes to individuality. Not everyone has to agree and if they did this place would suck.

Hopefully you'll take some of this into account and relax, read a bit and get a real feel for the dynamic here since this is a solid group of folks. If not, it's seriously your loss, not ours hoss. This forum is FREE and only costs a small amount of your time.

If you want to find other audio venues, I'd suggest Audiogon as my second favorite.

    Regards,
    Mark

Oh and by the way +1 Tony!

My posts are completely direct and upfront. In my case, "a cigar is just a cigar." I've got a very large task in front of me. To:

    1. Locate this gear.
    2. Collect/purchase this gear if it's even reasonably possible for me to do so.

So, I'm selling NOTHING. But hoping to purchase if everything lines up for me. The only "red flag" with me is the problematic irritation/rash of having to jump through fiery hoops just so I can simply "LOOK" through some "for sale" ad's. I'm new to this forum stuff. So, if there's some kind of prescribed "etiquette" I'm supposed to follow, then perhaps I may be forced to learn it before I find my stuff.

    If I find my stuff.

Forcing a brand new member to submit to this doesn't sound like a very friendly community, now does it?

I don't know what kind of problems this or any other forums have. I'm not interested in that. What I am interested in, is viewing items for sale, possibly purchasing, and then going on with my life.

I appreciate your overall explanation, Mark, thank you. At the same time please appreciate my view. Let me do what I want (find the gear I want without any hassles a.k.a. writing 100 posts) and in my own time. Then when I'm ready, perhaps I'll have something constructive to contribute to the community in a relaxed fashion.

But, that's not what's going to happen here. I have to do the reverse. The prerequisite seems to be, to get all warm and fuzzy, kiss some butt, and let everyone know I'm a team player, BEFORE I can go on with my search through the for sale ad's. Now THAT is absurd. What I thought was going to be simple, clearly is not.

This seemed like the ideal place to get the bulk or all of my SRT needs fulfilled for my little project. But, now it seems that it's going to be much more of a problem for me than it's worth. I do hope I'm wrong. Time will tell.

I get the feeling the ones bitching about this rule seem to think Polk Audio gets a cut from what is being sold/bought here. Hence the comments about "lost sales", "potential lost sellers and buyers" etc I have seen. I am guessing they don't realize the FM is a "luxury" given to us by the owners of this forum....Polk Audio. And they do not receive anything but gratitude for doing it.

The whole premise of your post only solidifies, to me, why the rules are the way they are. The tone of your post, spoken like a true self-absorbed jackass, is just icing on the cake.
