I find it amusing that this forum has decided that people like me cannot view for sale ads if we do not have 100 posts.
This is the silliest thing I have seen. Drive away potential customers! All this will do is drive away sellers who can get better prices elsewhere.

Well, to bad, bucko. If you want to complain about something then complain about cable threads being closed. :biggrin:Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Unfortunately I believe that's the way it's setup. It's there to keep the "drop in and sell" people away from here. Our Flea Market is a privilege, not something like Ebay. I'd say join the fray. Chat with us so that we know ya and you can consider this place differently. Not as a place to buy and sell audio gear but just a cool place to be.

Post #27. Sounds like it will get worked out.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
Kinda on the fence about this one.
Not really sure.
I would think if you ever wanted to grow a forum, this would not be the best idea.
My thoughts are, you can't sell unless you have 100 posts anyway.
Now you have to have 100 posts to even see the ad?
I feel sorry for Maxima!
A straight up excellent Polkie (Since 2001!!!!!!!!), and now he is not allowed to shop here?
Sorry Eric!Testing

I hope people really get involved...not just post meaninglessly to get to 100. I feel like the quality here is very good, and wouldn't want it to get watered down with fillers trying to get to the for sale section.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A

Many of us come here to read and learn and occasionally shop. It makes no sense to keep posting meaningless stuff just to get to 100 posts. If there are particular individuals who are abusing the forum then they can be banned. This rule will not deter a determined abuser who will simply post random nonsense to get to 100 posts.
-
Yes, but the random idiot will be noticed and will be treated as such. What are you looking for?
-
Steve Hoffman Forum has the same feature.
At Audiokarma, you have to pay $25 to see the Marketplace.
Stick around, get involved and don't worry about it. If you really want to be part of this Forum you should really want to keep the trolls out.Carl -

That already occurs. All of a sudden you will start to see somebody posting a trivial, meaningless reply to every post they can find. All just to sell something. Of course, the "What Are You Listening To" thread already exists to run up your post count. :biggrin:Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I agree with you on the first part, and I already know your feeling on the second part. Maybe they can remove post count on that thread. At least it's not bitching about cable fables or amps underpowering speakers

Last post about this...I promise. I am not looking for anything in particular. Reading the for sale ads is actually often very educational. I heard about Dodd, Odyssey, Legacy and many other small but outstanding brands from for sale posts. I purchased a couple of things on here as well...could not sell here because of the post count limit. I did not mind that as selling should be a privilege. Buying on the other hand should be encouraged since it helps frequent posters who are trying to sell. Occasionally I have seen really good deals where the poster is only willing to sell to someone with a minimum post count, which is the seller's prerogative. But limiting buyers can only drive down prices for the sellers. Sort of cutting your nose to spite your face.

I would think with over 100k members and rarely over 25 active members online at a time, kicking both
new and old members to the curb with this new rule would not help this forum much.
As far as the cable threads, funny how you have to go to all the "other sights" for intelligent conversation on
that subject.
They ALL have them, and they can get heated at times, but there are so many threads, you can't troll or comment on all of the threads.Testing

I understand the varying points of view that have been expressed about access to the "For Sale" section of the forum. But I do not consider myself as somebody "trolling" to sell or buy stuff, and I have found the extensive reading I have done on the forum extremely helpful to me as a long-time Polk Audio owner (SDA 1Cs since 1989) and a recent purchaser of SDA SRS 1.2s. I began the process of modifying both sets of SDAs because of what I learned by reading various threads on this forum, and I could not have begun the modifications without this forum. In the midst of purchasing tweeter brackets and driver rings and trying to purchase a case for a Dreadnought, today I was cut off from access to the threads involving the sale of these items. I do not pretend to have the knowledge to make the kinds of contributions to the forum that others who have great knowledge and skill make, but it seems unreasonable to me not to let less technically knowledgeable people like me, who nevertheless have a strong interest in learning and in improving their "Polk experiences," have access to buying, for example, Larry's rings. I can understand restrictions against selling, but restrictions against access to buying makes no sense. And I shall not succumb to the temptation to post drivel just to reach the 100-posts mark.Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. I agree with usp1's views. Can we get a change on the "for sale" viewing? I haven't purchased or sold anything on club polk but do find these threads informative and at some time would like to purchase something without having to post 100 threads for the sake of posting.

It will all get worked out fellas and gals just chill for a little while, have a drink and listen to some tunes.. -

I think that here that we want a trust between buyer and seller. You've been here and there's no woory in the process. You will get what you bought in exactly the way it was posted. There's a worry issue with Ebay. Here you know.

If you understand the original intent of the Flea Market, it will make perfect sense. It was meant as a small community selling place, to pass on very good deals to one another; not meant as a mini-ebay, where profit is the main focus. Sometime back, the FM started to get abused by fly-by-night sellers, looking only for a profit and hocking their gear. They had no interest in the Polk community, and as soon as they hocked their wares---they disappeared. That's when the minimum post rules came into effect.
Make sense now?
Think of it like a "members only" flea market. That's why people typically ask less for gear here, than they do on Ebay or audiogon---which is where the phrase "polkie price" came from. It's like giving your close friends first crack at a sale, before you go public.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

I jave purched sevetal items here and got really good prices and also paid more here than i could have gotten on CL. Never have i been disappointed!! I would rather buy here due to the confidance i have in the seller exp. with the equip
as apposed to buying from a flipper on ebay or CL who knows nothing about what he is selling as far as condition and working condition. To buy something from someone that has not used it for months or years is crazy as that person cant honstely state its condition as he has not had enough exp. with the item to really know ( speaking mostly of vintage equip.). I value being able to have access to purchace here. It is a privledge in my opinion.there are flippers here too but you can research them easily and know whom you are dealing with (also a great value).i think the 100 post to sell is a good thing too protect the rep. of the site.too buy ?? However this is a club!!! Not CL or ebay.i dont think too many people are making a living selling here nor is this the clubs purpose!!! All in all i feel this CLUB has been a great source of knowledge for me and i dont mind having to contribute (even with my limited knowledge compaired to others here) to enjoy the benifits.Main Rig:
