$600 a little high but if he has the original cable & boxes and there mint (like mine, yes I payed 6 for mine) and you want them go for it, If you can get them cheaper great. After all like F1nut says you can't take it with you, The pharaohs tried and you can see how well that worked out for most of them. NOT!

It being too much really depends on whether you want to do the mods and have the experience and fun along the way. If you are looking for a finished product modded and complete 6 to 7 is a descent price range for excellent condition 1C's. Keep in mind that the folks that really mod out their vintage Polks have hundreds or thousands in upgrades. For example, Boards, and these are pair calculations, $100, Parts for xover $365 and I didn't go anywhere close to TOTL. Spikes $150, drivers-though you may not need them- $360, dyna mat $40, rings $140, IC $35, binding posts $75...and the cost of the speakers to begin with. Oh gaskets $30, Black hole if you choose idk the cost there as I opted not to do that mod.

Where are we here? $1285 plus the purchase price of the speaker. It all depends on what you have in mind for the direction of your journey. If you want a finished product then it is definitely worth going that way. If you want to experience the actual modifications then save where you can and that most likely is in the original purchase price. I didn't care LOL i wanted them and wanted to do the mods knowing I will never sell them. Consequently there is close give or take to $2K in mine, they are studio version- Black Vinyl oh yea!-and FRIGGIN ROCK THE HOUSE~!

It's all up to you man but just consider the options and do your research and youll do fine.
    Too much **** to list....

SDA is not an effect. It's a solution to an aural phenomenon known as inter aural crosstalk. The word "effect" conjures ideas about creating something that is not real or is an illusion. It certainly isn't either one of those.

Well heiney, due to the fact that SDA is patented, out of the "norm" and wayyyyyy outa' widespread production.......I'll continue to be comfy calling it an "effect".............. as has been done by many before me, including audio writers, etc. Much like a certain racing affictionado around here .......you should probably attempt to study up on generally accepted definitions of commonplace words. If however, you're content to affix your own meanings to these words, please don't attempt to "correct" those of us that aren't familiar with your personal definitions. This, of course, is entirely......... in my opinion.

Ok fellas, we've got a thread here that's actually stayed entirely positive. Let's not go dragging the discussion downhill.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Hey there everyone... I had a few minutes tonight so I called up my guy. We spoke for a long time about why I was planning to dissect and rebuild his "mint" SDA's. He really seems like a good guy. He agreed to sell them to me for 400 and said he would guarantee them to work as stated. I am really stoked. I'm planning the road trip on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon I should be able to report without a doubt how the deal went.

Thanks again for all the help. I'm looking forward to getting started on the journey. If my wife happens to post some questions on this forum about what I paid or what I'm paying to work on these things... let's keep our stories straight. These things were practically free and parts don't cost near as much as sending them to someone to fix. I don't need an attorney's fees in the mix...

    Sleep well all...

Why lie? For less than a grand, you've got rebuilt speakers that can't be touched by anything NEW priced under $2K; and not many priced under 4K.

Thanks again everyone. I'll try to post some pictures in a new thread once I get them back and find some spare time. My wife was actually reading over my shoulder while I typed the lying part... She didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did. These things could cost a dollar and she still thinks I'm nuts. Her television is upstairs with one button to turn it on. Using two remotes is wayyyyy too technical for her... She is a great cook though, so that makes up for it.

Yep! Mine's great - she's very picky about how the house looks, yet lets our LR be dominated by my 2.3TL's, equipment rack, etc.
