That's fine but nobody answered me w/ the CSR having a vertical tweeter. I thought they were all horizontal and to me that look is much better. I'm guessing a newer generation but it would be nice to know. About the other thing yes side fabric is not to bad if you have ratchet strap clamps when re gluing and since 1 tweeter was already replaced who knows what also lurks there. This would be a listen only buy and not through E-Bay. Mike, project pair, perfect description..... Lew

In your first sentence, if you are referring to the vertical orientation of the single tweeter in the CRS+ for sale posted by tonyp063, it's tweeters are in the correct position. These are the third iteration of the CRS, the first + model with only one tweeter, the 1986 model. The fourth version, the1989 models, are the ones that can be TL'd. Not a bad price @ $199.00, try $150.00.

The fabric is easy to glue back he must have limited funds (1 RDO) make sure the rare 6511's are okay.
He would take $340 through CL cause of the eBay charges

These are the same I showed through the Central Jersey C/L a few post ago. Now he's posting on E-Bay. Same replaced tweeter and side fabric coming unglued. Trenton and Hamilton are neighboring towns. Oh, it's still up on C/L...

He has a very nice setup in his basement home theater. ;)

@Mystery Do you know if he has a pair of 2B's or 1C's?

    He had few before.
He may still have the two tweeter SDA-2's that I sold.

You robbed someone blind then. ;) $95 is a fair price for Monitor 5's, I'd think a fair price for 8T's is around $150? There's $300 in drivers (if bought new) alone.

There is nothing about the 8T's that make them worth $150 the drivers are not even worth that IMO...

Monitor 7's and 10's are much better suited for the $150 range, much better sounding...

Where? I might be interested depending on the location.

  • hey fellas/people, I have seen an ad in the local area of someone that is selling a pair of Monitor 10A and they have all original drivers, crossovers and original Peerless tweeters and claim everything works and they are the original owners. I thinking about going for a test listen, they are asking $250 for them.

I have a pair of monitor 10's in my work office and I love them. I have never heard the Peerless tweeters and I keep reading that they were the sweet spots of tweeters for vintage polk speakers. my question is, if they sound good and are in as good a shape as advertised, is $250 a good price?

if I snag them, I would put them in my bedroom at home replacing the L & R fronts which are currently Monitor 5Jr's pairing the 10's with my current 5Jr center shouldn't be to difficult. I want to use the 10's for 2 channel music in the Love Room! ;):D

I would give no more than 175.00 if excellent condition. Because the first thing I would do is recap/resistor them, plus all the other upgrades.. Then I have a 400-450.00 pair of 10's.....lol. Try to get them @ $150.00.

thanks for your response, I'm not looking to upgrade them, I actually prefer to keep the old stuff as is as much as possible. I am sure they are not going to drop $100 and I'm likely to be insulting to them to ask them.

perhaps I should have listed my question for "what they are" since I'm not looking to do anything to them except listen to them as they are as long as they are working.

again, thanks for your response and I do understand and respect your view.

  • I like my 10's, I have a pair of the last made the series II. I redid the crossovers with Sonic caps, and the RDO-198 tweets. Also the hurricane nuts, bh5, armourcell. They sound great but sounded real good to began with. Whatever these are worth to you is all that matters, good luck.

Have you thought of dropping in some RD0's in those 10's. Not sure what you have ?? Im odd & i would think nothing to spend 250 for a beautiful pair. I had some 10's w/sl1000's & then i saw some 11's w/peerless tweets on the bay & i got them & A&B listened to them for a month. The peerless tweets sound sweet. Go take a listen. We dump 60-80.00 on going out to dinner-so i didnt feed the kid & we ate dollar menu for awhile :)

Solarrdadd, the Polk 10As with Peerless tweeters are among the best speakers made by Polk imho, along with the SDA line. I have had Polk 10A for years and love them. And the 10As with the Peerless tweeters are the best of the Monitor 10 series, imho. They are just so musical and do so many things well. I had them in my main system for many many years until they were replaced by the SDA 2BTLs which I bought 3 years ago. While the SDAs are a big cut above the Monitor 10s, I still use my 10As in a secondary system and still love them. I paid $150 for a mint pair (a second pair of mine) about 4 years ago but I think anywhere between $150-$200 would be a good deal if the speakers are in great shape. $250 does seem to be too high though but, as others have said, it depends what they are worth to you. Good luck.
