You guys are too funny and so relentless! I will always laugh most about PFB's thread about running into his projector screen. That was about the time I started on the forum.

PFB, I have no doubt you will be getting a job soon. In the contracting world getting "fired" is not the same as working for a lot of years for a corporation and then getting let go. Any construction, contracting, etc is by design going from one job to another. I know everyone gives you a hard time, and some of it probably deservedly so, but you would be missed by many if you ever stopped telling us your stories.

Keep on trekkin and your drama driven deviant ways.

By the way, how is that 3d projector working for you? I put my purchase on hold when I got these srs2's, but I still plan on upgrading eventually. I'm still at 720p native with 500/1 contrast on my sharp xv-z2000, and want to get a better picture although mine is pretty good now.

Best of luck to you as I, too, know what it's like, as do many others. The worst part for me was, well, all of it. Our family had to leave where we had been for over 20 years, a house for over 15 (which we ending up renting since we couldn't sell it and we wouldn't sell it for a loss), the family and I separated because of my new employment in an adjoining state for 6 months, my kids for leaving the only place they ever knew (plus my oldest had to spend his senior year not knowing anyone here), all things still up in the air as my employment training has not stopped for the last 1 1/2 years and I could be moved to another state at any time, having to lose almost 16 years in a company (plus vacation time, etc.). Fortunately we still live in Wisconsin, my work is across the river.

A couple things I learned, and am still learning. Our marriage is much stronger now, as is our family. Unless you're self employed, your employer only looks at you as a number and you'd better be able to bend over backwards (not forwards) to their beck and call because there are other people looking for work. Life throws you curves, no doubt about it. It sucks but once you get the right attitude, get back on your feet (talking of myself here).

One of the best things is I actually have good employment, probably better (safer) than the one I had. But..., time will tell with that just like everything else.
Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

I have never witnessed a more chaotic life... You need some assless chaps instead. Stay away from your gear for awhile, as you might spontaneously combust.
Sorry to hear that. I'm sure there are demolition companies out there that could use some good help.

You might do a search for them on the web, just Google "American Binding Post Safety Association!"

You guys just can't help yourselves can you?:lol:

PFB, A week bender bad idea. Dust yourself off and start looking for a new job. As far as feeling down about it just depends on how you look at it after all you were looking for work when you got this job. Two things to remember, The longer your out of work the harder it's going to be to get a new job, And most importantly your job does not define who you are but is just a means to a end. Best of luck.

    +1

As much as I really don't care for you, I don't wish this kind of event on anyone. Good luck, get out there, now.

When the economy is bad the military gets very, very selective due to all the "sudden interest".

Sorry to hear that PFB. Sucks for sure. One window closes....another opens. Chin up, you'll find something.

On the lighter side of things, thought I'd throw out a few suggestions for ya.

    Lets see, how about....

Nuclear power plant operator....nah, Homer Simpson has that locked up.
Professional golfer.....nah, you and holes....don't get along.
Audio gear reviewer.....maybe, for Madd magazine.
Farmer.....uh, no. We are in a drought after all.
School bus driver....nah, you'd scare the kids....and parents.....and the police.

There's only one job I can think of which you are completely qualified for. You don't need any experience, it pays very well, and you never have to tell the truth, you can lie with out reprocussions. Benefits are great, pension....awesome. Sound like something you'd be interested in ? Then, all I can say is....PFB for President !!!

Seriously....I jest, but I do hope you find something soon.

It's tough, I know. I have been out of work more than in since 2007. Employers now days see it as, I can hire someone cheaper. Bending over backward is no good from my experience. Start looking now, don't wait. And sell, sell, sell yourself. Look at your strengths, know them, sell them. Be confident. If you want to do something new and you feel you can do it, even though you have never done it professionally, try for it. I am now working in a field that I though I was going to have to spend 10's of thousands on just to go back to school to get a degree for something I already knew how to do. I am also learning as I go. I am finally at a point where I am going to be able to catch up, and the hardest thing I do is lift a box to open it. As far as that bender go's just make it a one nighter, preferably on a Friday so you will have the rest of the weekend to recoup, and get hard at it looking for the new source of cash flow. I wish you all the best of luck. Now stop reading, and start looking.
