I contracted work for three large properties and today I got a call from head office saying I and many others will loose our jobs. It sucks for me because I lost my driving privileges at the moment for speeding

I was planing to upgrade to capri pants in my wardrobe but not anymore

The main thing is to get your head straight and get into the right mental attitude before interviewing for jobs. I started the process a week after I heard I was going to be unemployed and really screwed up the interviews with my negative hopeless attitude. A few weeks later I looked back and it was obvious no one would have hired me given my lack of excitement. I remember one interview where I actually cut it short because it didn't seem to be going well. I could easily walk away with that job today if I wanted it.

I have no idea what the hell this means.

It means he was about to get some new wardrobe additions by squeezing into these:

Which would not be a great thing to wear to any interview from this link:

In somewhat seriousness, I hope you get a new job. I was told once to quit and get a new job is the best way to get a raise. I found that to be true.

Been there. I hope everything works out.

This is free advice so please ignore it if it offends. I get the impression you are young, so you have the chance to retrain. I am almost 63 and just took a new job since it will make me learn how to program with Python. This should be good for another 10 years in this industry. The point is, for better or worse, we now compete for jobs with every mo-fo in the world. It sucks, but that is how it is now. Use your youth to your advantage, and learn a skill that might be in demand for a few years. The side-effect is it is easier to find a job when there is a demand for your knowledge. Then save your money, or at least some of it.

Age is relative. I didn't go to college until I was 34. Now I consider 34 to be just out of puberty.

At times like this, PFB, step back and ask yourself, "WWGD" ?

No, not "WWJD", but "WWGD" ? Groucho. Marx.

In the midst of of mayhem, calamity, and disorder, Groucho and his bros wouldn't get rattled; they'd sit back and enjoy the show (disregarding that they may have been responsible for all the brouhah in the first place ).

Lost your job ? AOK to say, "Well, that f***ing sucked !", but do it with a grin and keep your head up. You'll get another job and, down the road, you'll probably lose that, too. And that's not just you; that applies to the majority of folks with the way the economy works now. So enjoy the show (you do have to keep your head out of your derriere, though).
Heed Madmax's advice and don't go in for job interviews all down and out. Steer away from topics like binding posts and skinny jeans, though.

All good if you let it, even in the midst of chaos. :loneranger:

A little snippet to illustrate the "From chaos, order" theory.
.... welll, actually this ilustrates the "From order, chaos" as instigated by Groucho on Arlene Francis, Miss Kitty Carlisle, Bennett Cerf, and John Daly (certified Stiff Shirts and/or Panties, one and all). The episode gets destroyed, but .... well, Groucho seems to be enjoying himself.

As in life, enjoy the show :
