We have my late father-in-law's R-500, but it is silver. I don't think that the black ones were sold in the US... I'm guessing that one may have sneaked in across the border from Canuckistan ;-)

    That is really cool!

jcaut That Kenwood KR6050 is beautiful!! Seriously, I've seen plenty of marantz, Sansui, Pioneer etc but that Kenwood does it right. Its so well balanced. Great job on the restore. I almost bought the Sony like the one you have but I choose the Mitsubishi DAR-20 instead. Loved the Mit's round tuning dial and had it for years.

    Thanks for sharing

Picked up a set of B.A. A200s a few weeks ago. I, like the previous owner, found the top end a tad too bright even with the SEAS tweeter so, I transgressed; I put a Sansui equalizer between the pre-amp and the amp (I know, I violated the purist "rules", but the highs are much more laid back and acceptable now even if some detail may not be there as much--on the other hand I could've spent the next two years experimenting with cabling till I finally found that synergistic magic, but perhaps it would have continued to elude me forever).

Normally I don't use equalization but...I did try three different amplifiers and all were bright and the low end not quite as there as the smaller A100s with almost "any" amp or cables for that matter--I also used three different cables--all bright on the A200s but fine on the A100s?

Here's a stock photo. I'm sure people are familiar with these. Mystery has the A400s, the next step up, but many think the A200s were the best in the series.

Yeah, those A200s are very "tip-worthy". Barely more than 6" deep but 42" high and over 21" wide (slim but still close to 60 lbs).

Love your Pioneer Fluroscan set up, above. Made me fire up my SX 3900 and the OLA (Advents) yesterday. Very nice!

I just took a little time out of my stupid busy schedule and looked through this thread and, in my opinion, it's bordering epic. Some very fine equipment can be found here. I been looking an hi fi for decades and there's a few things I've never came across before. I'm set to semi-retire soon and when I get a chance I'll post a few pics of several tube tuners (mostly HH Scott) and amps that I have stashed away.
    Decware CSP3 Preamp, RCA 6DJ8, 2 X Rocket 6N1P-EV's, Cary SLA70B Signature V2 Amplifier: 2 X Mullard GZ32's, 2 X RCA/GE 5691's, 4 X Tung-Sol 6550's

Cambridge Audio 640C V2 CD Player & Dacmagic DAC

Rega Planar 3: Deep Groove Subplatter, P3 Motor
upgrade, Dynavector 10x5, JA Michell counterwieght, Cardas tonearm wiring and Mapleshade stand

Parks Audio Budgie Hybrid Phonostage with BEL 6922 tubes, Polk Audio LS70's

    H.H. Scott 330D AM/FM Tuner with H.H. Scott 335 Multiplex adaptor.

from one semi-retiree to another... congratulations and good luck! ;-)

So... ya got any of the really sexy Scott tuners (e.g., a 310E or a 4310)? :-)

Thanks for the grats. As far as having any of the nicer Scott tuners, no, nothing too rightous. Just stuff I picked up over the years. I'm pushing my memory but I think what I have is as follows:

330D w/335 multiplex (besides the one in my main rig)
    310C w/335 multiplex
    LT10 w/Type 35 multiplex
    Type 350
    LT-110
    LT-10

There's also some Pioneer and Carver stuff lurking around here. Again nothing too special. I also might have a Pilot tuner with a multiplex. I use to have some Fisher stuff but I sold that to a collector.

Nice that you have the Scott MPX adaptors! :-)

Yes, one of the problems of the "collector" ;-)
I find the occasional 'surprise' in the deep, dank recesses of the basement now and again, too...
(although I can, unfortunately, say with some certainty that I have no Pilot hardware here)

Sorry I missed the question about the Crown stuff. I was bashin' it the other day in another thread here at CP ;-) and I had pulled up those old photos. It's early 1970s Crown ss hardware; sort of semi-pro ("prosumer") stuff. Basically indestructible but none too great sounding. The D-150 power amp is actually perfectly OK sounding... the IC-150 preamp, though, really is pretty not great. They were dump finds (i.e., the price was right), and near-perfect, though... so they got to stay.

    Pioneer CT F9191....

....A good product. I serviced this unit today & everything came off well. As i was putting it together i adjusted all wood sides & top with metal rear plate. As im doing this i do the feel test. I slide my fingers across it & everything is just perfectly made to fit just right with the screws just a tad bit snug. As i feel i tighten them. Oh my what craftsmanship Pioneer did back in the day. Ok i got to be honest here. I got this unit knowing the FF RVS doesnt work :( but this unit plays oh so sweet & i rarely use FF RVS anyways. I really enjoy listening to all of what the artist has put on the tape.. Hats off to Pioneer back in the day.

Yes that was a nice deck - the FF/REW issue is typically a sign of bad belts, if memory serves.

A beautiful piece. Love the meters and the wood sides/top. And, according to Hifi Engine, a very very HEAVY unit at just under 30 lbs? Wow!

Enjoy! I was messing with my Realistic SCT-21 the other day and it began to shut down but I suspect the NAD under it was overheating it, not enough ventilation, because it went through a few tapes before it got uppity.
