I'm 99% sure he is referring to the two companies and that he has never tried MIT's.

As you know I have worked with just about every single wire made under our Yellow sun. With that being said I found MIT and sister company once Transparent to "take something away" from the sound. I have had all kinds of MIT's to play with in all different levels of gear to Install them in. Not to mention I work for a company now that carries more wire then I have ever scene. It's crazy even coming from me.

But honestly man , thats my opinion of the 2. I have found Audioquest cables of all levels to really allow a system to come alive , to perform at it's best , to get out of the way and allow the music to come across. The only other cable I have found to perform at this level is Kimber Kable. We carry Cardas which is supposed to be some of the best wire on earth , I don't find anything special about it. I find it to work great , I prefer the Kimbers over them as I have done plenty of in store side by side with a ton of different speakers and gear.

Yeah, I remember that now. He didn't even know that the two are not sister companies and have nothing to do with each other.

I don't believe a word of it.

You're like the only person I can think of that didn't like MIT's in their system. That should tell you something.

MIT makes a nice cable & is highly recommended on this forum. I confess I got caught up in all the hyperbole & snaged a pair of S2 speaker cables & matching IC's to see what all the hoopla was about. I had them for quite some time & came to an honest opinion that they just weren't all that. Not a big deal in my book.

But this love fest for these things is just way over the top as far as I'm concerned. After all it's just a cable.

Mantis might have meant "sister company" in the figurative sense rather than the literal sense. Apparently, Transparent's founders used to work for MIT and they manufactured and distributed MIT cables for a number of years after forming Transparent:
"Transparent Audio was built by Karen Sumner and her engineer husband Jack upon leaving the legendary MIT Cables to start out on their own."
URL="http://hometheaterreview.com/transparent-audio/"]Source: Home Theater Review[/URL
"1985 - Transparent begins to distribute and manufacture MIT cables."
URL="http://www.transparentcable.com/about/history.php?modCAT=5"]Source: Transparent Company History[/URL
"Guttenberg: Transparent distributed MIT's cables before you made your own cables?I'm a bit confused about that.

Sumner: Transparent Audio and MIT had a mutually beneficial eight-year relationship, and we parted company in '92."
URL="http://www.stereophile.com/content/sisters-sound-karen-sumner"]Source: Stereophile Interview With Transparent President, Karen Sumner[/URL

Considering all of the above, and the fact that MIT and Transparent both use network boxes in their cables, it would not be a stretch to say that MIT and Transparent are "sister companies" in the figurative sense. When Transparent and MIT had a solid business relationship, they were sister companies in the literal sense. The term "sister companies" can refer to companies that have the same parent corporation, have a common origin, or have an affiliate type business relationship.

I don't recall that Dan has posted any pics/reviews of him auditioning MIT cables, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that since he is a professional audio installer.

He meant literal, but I'm not searching for it.

I've read that before, but have heard otherwise. I've also heard a number of other little juicy tidbits. Funny how MIT doesn't mention anything about that in their company history, http://www.mitcables.com/history-of-mit-cables.html

Who knows, the truth is probably somewhere in between.

Right and we all know Dan likes to post pics/reviews of everything he auditions.

It's only wire...it's only wire...it's only wire. Repeat 10 times daily for a week & you'll be completely cured. Works like a charm. :cheesygrin:
