None of the above.
I'd go the passive SVS route with a separate amp.
Cheers,
Russ
SEVEN foot ceiling? Did I read that right?Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
a SEVEN foot ceiling? Jeeze, I'd be claustrophobic.

glemay,
I'm going to quote Doc from an early post I had which addressed the same question, and was enough for me to get the 20-39 PC+. From Doc...
========================
The 20-39PC+ has about a 5-6 dB performance advantage below 30 Hz over the 20-39PCi. It also has somewhat less distortion, but both are remarkably low anyway.
You also get:
- the triple flared ports and port plugs for variable tuning (20, 16, 12), although the stock tune works the best
- 0-180 continuously variable phase control
- 4 position (25, 20, 16, 12) SS filter
- 525 watt BASH amp
The PC+ advantage will probably be most noticeable in a larger room. If you have never bottomed out the PCi and you play it as loud as you want, then I don't see the need.
From a FR and extension standpoint, they will measure almost identically in stock tune. The PC+ can be tuned deeper but it's not muh of a benefit since in stock tune its flat to about 18 Hz in room. I always ran mine in stock tune unless I was **** around running sweeps or experimenting, etc.

glemay, what the ? of what would I buy if in Canada? I'd buy those ones that I liked even if in the US or Mexico.
BTW i'm very happy with my SVS 20-39PCi. I haven't heard the other ones before. SVS mates well with Polk fronts.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

FYI i do indeed live in a hobbit house. Alll my ceilings in the upstairs of my house are all 7' high. luckily i'm only 3'4" tall.
seriously, it's an unusual house. the first floor all have 8 ft ceilings, but not the second.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

glemay, for 15 here's the deal, you are probably going to take this sub to college, and so the tube just makes more sense because its easier to carry and lighter than the box. Having people help you move your stereo stuff is usually annoying.
-
that's true. the only part of my system I would let any of my family or friends move for me would be the cables and wires. otherwise keep your paws off my electonics. sorry i'm so anal about this. but i spent to much (hard earned) money on components to let someone drop my DAC or receiver. ugh... shudder the thought.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Faster - I'll get you! Damn, you busted on my lil' 202....wait till I let him know about that
Glemay - I just have the cheapy. I have squared away other parts of my HT first...the sub will be the very last item. SVS really has a large following, and is known in the audio community as a Giant killer.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? I've been talking to Tom at SVS and he suggested the PB2 PLUS. The sad thing is I can't afford it, so I asked him to look for an alternative route.Main System:

damn the pb2 plus?
im 16 and my room is 15x12xlike 7 1/2 ( its not quite 8 ft) and im gonna get the svs 20 -39 pci. i think being that i just turned 16 and want a car, $550 is the most i really want to spend on a subwoofer. your room is just alittle bit bigger then mine though lol. oh well, i think that you will be happy with any svs you get. -

I am pretty well in the same situation as you. I dont really want to spend more than 1000 dollars canadian on a sub. I will probably get the PCi 20-39 or the PC plus 20-39 or somewhere in that price range.Main System:

unlesss you have a really large open and airy room... I would think the 20-39PCi or PCi Plus would work pretty good for most people... as long as you're in the market for a cylinder sub. So far i don't think i've run into anyone that has hated their SVS sub, whether it was the box or cylinder sub.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
i was joking about the polk sub...thats what the was there for. you sound very serious for being 15. just get the svs 20-39 pci or the plus, you wont be disappointed, and if you are doc will probably pay the shipping cost to send it back. ( as long as its under $35)
-
Airplay,
Ya I'm pretty serious about this audio thing. I really enjoy excellent sound in music and movies. The only people that don't really care for it are my parents and my 3 sisters, oh well:D. I will probably end up with a PCi 20-39 or something around there. Just hope my parents will let me buy it. When will you be getting your Airplay? Let me know what you think!

Same boat as you dude. 14 years old. similar rig.
I just don't have the full surround sound (YET).
I have the RTi70 with the RT35i stacked on top of it for mains.
I to plan to purchase the 20-39 PCi around Christmas time. Bring on the rumble!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
