    Yeah it sounds great.... Going to be doing the CSI soon, but yeah they sound great... Got a new Denon AVR 1612 as well to go with it... With the Velodyne, the house definitely shakes.....

    Well it will be two weeks since I wired the Fortress Edition crossovers back up and I want to provide an update on my listening experience. Unfortunately when I first installed the crossovers my left ear was plugged up and I couldn't really rely on what I was hearing. Plus, as Trey told me, the Clarity caps would sound worse before they sound better. Well they've outgrown their awkward stage and have settled in quite nicely. Bottom line, this was a worthwhile investment and I would not hesitate recommending this mod to anyone else with a pair of TSi400s. This mod has pushed these speakers as far as they can go and definitely brought out significantly more detail. As I mentioned before the lower frequencies are much tighter and more enjoyable. The mids are nice and warm.

    I have quite a bit of problems with my ears and part of what you were describing to me was what I hear when one of my ears is not 100% - glad to hear it came together and is sounding awesome!!

    Yep, just bare wire - I usually use the nicest quality I have laying around at the time.

    I tried using the Monster wire I have laying around - I have done so successfully. The reason why I didnt do it again is the insulation is a nightmare to work with..... it is the wire I used on the woofer crossover in this speaker - that insulation just slides right off the wire...

    The timbre of the speakers completely changed and there's a lot more clarity across the board...particularly in the highs. There are times, when I've felt they actually sounded somewhat bright.....in a good way (not the knives stabbing your ear kind of way).

    I know this is a cliche'd phrase....but it literally sounds like someone pulled a blanket off of my old LSi's and revealed what they 'really' should sound like. Soundstage is much more open, and the sweet spot (where these speakers just grab your ears) is much wider.

    Bass seems tighter, more accurate and has significantly better timing, but I'm not experiencing the increase in the amount/volume of the bass that others that have modded their xovers have experienced.....then again I'm in a huge, bass sucking room that even my VTF-3 has trouble filling.

    I've got a pair of Paradigm Studio 60's in my car right now. We'll see how the modded LSi9's stack up (based on what I've heard so far, musically I'm thinking the Paradigm's can't touch these).

    Don't do it (for your wallet's sake). Photography is an even deeper rabbit hole than audio.

    Thanks. It's a Canon 5D MKII. Had a Canon 24-70 lens, and 580exII speedlight attached when I took these.

    Thats just because more Polkies need to use you to do mods..... so ya know you can get the content...

    If you ever wanted to mod my entire LSi set (15's, LSiC, LSi F/X) for free your more than welcome to :wink: with the understanding of course that you would have the rights to any and all pictures taken during said mod :biggrin:......

    That would mean you had modded the full LSi line but for the 25s...

    Heck I would even drive em to you and pick em up :razz:

    Love it Trey!!! Man you got me started on a slippery slope of audio....

    Getting into two 2.1 channel audio now. Just got my receiver into pure direct mode with lfe+main so I get double bass. Now waiting for a DAC to pipe into the receiver with Pure Direct....

    I don't have a big budget, but from what I have read, the best bang for the buck is the audio-gd 3.1....

    What do you think?

    I wont pretend to be the master of electronics lol!

    I am super old school when it comes to 2 channel audio - get the best source you can afford.... the rest will fall into place. Just make sure you buy things so you can resale them and not lose money (or much)....

    Just try things you think you may like, if you dont, move on! :)
