Props to Polk for letting this thread continue! Unlike a certain amplifier producer who shut down a thread in which a guy (who had ordered and returned multiple amps) complained about them not allowing him to order any more amps. They not only shut it down, but they also deleted his actual posts.

The worst part about all of this is I really wanted to hear these speakers and now I'm not going to bother.

they are now 45% refurbished which was what they were before. I was hoping they were going to drop them to $475-500 as they are refurbished used speakers. But hey its ok to jack the price up before a sale and drop it back to normal around here. Take advantage of the people who arent watching. Then in 2 weeks when you guys look at the ad and the regular sale price is back to $549 you can apologize to me

You're really talking about a price difference of 50 dollars per speaker. Is $50 per speaker that much of a difference for LSI's?
When you see something on sale which you consider to be a good price, do you normally sit around and hope for a better price even though you know the sale price is great? Sure, Black Friday is here but if you people didn't get sucked in so much by the hype, you could make logical choices. But nooooooo, A lot of people want deeper discounts and will shop with the crowds at midnight. You got caught up in it, didn't like what you saw and blamed it on Polk.

Maybe you should start a Occupy Polk sit in and tell the world how Polk is a bad company.

Kinda reminds me of going to the grocery store when they raise the price of an item then offer a buy one get one free ad. Nobody rails against that practice I guess. Assuming Polks ad wasn't a misprint, typo, whatever, it seems to run along common practice lines than outright ethical violations.

The reason that the price increase or decrease does not bother me is that I don't believe there is any correct price for a "refurb." As anyone who watches the ebay site learns, it is based on demand and their stock and will fluctuate over the course of the year. A month or two ago the prices were at least $50 HIGHER than they are now. I remember when they dropped because I thought, hmm, time to buy more speakers. The fact that Polk did not claim that their prices had been "marked down" when they dropped their prices was a marketing decision.

I recently purchased a NEW Lsic from and authorized dealer at prices significantly below their "refurb" prices. At the end of the day those who shop learn what are the true street prices. Those who don't take the time to shop around run the risk of paying too much. Of course, time is money.

I have yet to see Polk do anything that I would consider unfair or misleading. And, as I said, the fact that they are allowing this thread to continue is a plus in my book.

No one is going to apologize to you dude, sale prices go up and down all the time. Why not just go buy it new, or are you too cheap? If I really wanted something I'd buy it, not complain.

Once again your still getting a good deal on something. To complain your not getting more off is stupid. You are coming and saying you wanted to see the speaker's go for 475. 1k new selling for 550 not sure how many other ccompanies give deals like that. Don't see emotiva giving that or other speaker companies but no whine and complain really about nothing. Want a cookie or something. I want you to go into any store and demand you get more off a sales price when its already marked down considerably and see what you get for a reaction

polk owes me alot for the money I wasted on my monitor ht setup. Which I sold for about 25% of what I paid cause they didnt hold their value. Seeing I just paid 2x what I was going to pay for these lsi9's money wasnt the object. The principle is, I was going to check these lsi9's out on the lowered sale price to see if lsi25's were worth my purchse for 2 channel. Now I see this practice and am now gun shy. See there isn't a place within 800 miles of me that I can see lsi's in person so a 2000 speaker purchase on blind faith isnt an option for anyone smart. So really shut your yap and keep drinking the koolaid.

Jim there are certain members here who have no interest in your gripe. These certain people will only try argue for their personal agenda's . Polk changed the price so did they make a mistake or did they marginally hike up the price for the sales? We will never know unless some rep from polk gives you an answer.

No I called the mindless defenders Sheep cause thats what they are. In every company forum there are these guys who will defend the company to the end even though they did something wrong. I'm sure they were the same people who kept defending AV123 when they were doing this kind of thing

They haven't done anything wrong. You obviously don't understand the definition of "unethical". They are a business, they sell stuff for a price. If the price is in any way shape or form below retail, it's a sale. Product is on sale, and on Black Friday. It's not a retail store, do not expect it to be the same as one.
