Hang on, I thought there weren't replacements for the 1C boards?

There is for the SINGLE board 1c, not the dual board

What's the difference? If you built one of those boards for dual-board 1C's, why couldn't you use it?

    Thats an excellent question...

The one I am working on right now is a single board - I have just seen on the forums that dual boards are a no-no with the GIMPOD boards, maybe Anthony can chime in?

I don't get it - there's only one schematic posted in the vintage speakers section for 1C's. Far as I know, all 1C's used two 6510's, two 6511's, and two SL-2000's. They may have had different board configurations depending on models, but is the XO circuit different in any way between the two? Surely there must be a way for this to work.

Trey got your email and will try and answer it here.

Yes you can use my boards on the early dual board 1C's they use the same components as the single board 1C's.
Fellow member JayCee asked the same question and seeing how I had a set of the dual and single board crossovers for the 1C's as backups I was able to compare the two and electrically there the same. Now there is a caveat, the 1.25 mH inductors has the wire coming out the side instead of the end so move those to fit. Here's some pics that label the inductors and wires also a schematic.

The wire for the SDA cable go's to P1 INPUT pin 1.

Hope this helps, If you have anymore questions just ask here or shoot me a PM.

Or just replace that inductor with a Jantzen

Thanks Tony, you're the man. I'm not actually planning on touching the 1C's, I'm selling them to a friend at work as soon as my CRS+'s are ready for prime time. But he's a solder geek himself, likely interested in being a gimpod customer!

Your welcome, as a matter of fact I'm thinking going the Jantzen/Solen inductor route myself but need to to do more research on doing so as nobody's been down this road on the 1C's before. The 1C's use 22 gauge wire for the 2.5 mH & 1.25 mH inductors where the CRS+, 2B uses 20 gauge and the 2.3 & 1.2 non-TL's use a 2.5 mH 22 gauge and a 1.25 mH 18 gauge, different gauge wire different DCR.

Ahhhhhh. Hadn't spotted that. You're good, dude! I was just reading the Henry measurement on the schematic, I didn't spot the gauge difference.

A big thank you for verifying this Tony. I bought a couple sets of your boards during the first run with the intention of converting my dual board 1c's to a single board.

That's the list you want. Doesn't look like there a 22 gauge 1.25mH, but there is a 22 gauge 2.5mH. Not sure if they'll do custom windings, but if they will, I smell a group buy in the works. Very thankful that they have direct replacements for the CRS+ coils. Mine arrived the other day. I'm now four Dueland resistors away from final XO assembly.

It took about five weeks for me to get mine, and they were regular cataloged parts.

Jantzen Audio is in Denmark and they won't do custom wound inductors, I think they might if you are a company (OEM) and ordered a boat load (1000+). Most places (Parts Express, Parts connection, etc.) don't stock the values needed for the SDA's so they order them from Jantzen and yes it can take 4 - 8 weeks to get stocked parts from Denmark.

Exactly, If they (Jantzen) don't stock the value you need then you'll need to order a larger mH inductor of the same gauge wire and unwind it to the proper mH & DCR.

This is what your speakers look like on drugs and yes I know the left speaker woofers are oriented wrong thank you ;)

Yesterday I ordered 16 midbass drivers and 8 tweeters so I can accurately test all sizes of SDA....

Thats right, I have lost my marbles

    Have a nice day!

Well I was hoping to have some updated pictures for everyone, but I missed the FedEx guy today so I guess I wait. No biggie as I wouldn't have been able to do anything till this weekend anyway.

Trey I haven't forgot about the shipping difference. I will send that out on Monday.
