On 9/14 I received an email from Ben saying the SDA cable that I purchased from him way back in March for $45 was "sent". Guess what? I never got it! Surprised? After all, its only been 7 months and about 15 emails.

While I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and I think this forum is fantastic, he now has the official honor of being the first person to rip me off on the web. Too bad, as this was my first purchase on CP. Lesson learned, buyer beware.

I hope that other CP members who have recently trused him with more than just $45 have better luck than me.

Sorry for your misfortune. I myself have had nothing but the best luck with members on this forum, but I am aware of issues others have had with members on this forum.

No, I am not certain. However, I did ask Ben for a tracking number (via email) on 9/26. No reply to date. I also sent him my address 4 seperate times over the 7 month period. I would hope he got it right.

Search for threads with his name in the title. I remember a couple with phone numbers for him.

One of the things I did when I worked in Polk's CS was repair crossovers. I've kept some of the original parts and I can still get things from Polk. I'd be happy to try and repair your crossover.

I prefer my inductors medium rare rather than well done. Sorry, I feel for you. It's such a simple principle. X-overs are pretty much the easiest thing to work on because the components tend to be large and the boards aren't heavily populated or wave soldered. SDA x-overs are a little more tricky because of the real estate, etc, but still should be childs play.

It's gonna be a costly fix of an expensive upgrade but ya live and learn.
I am not going to go on a tangent against another polkie.
Just time folks are aware of some issues i had.
I guess a picture is worth a thousand words.
Thanks again for the help offered from you fine folks.means a lot to a newbie like me.

I'm personally taking care of BRGMAN and he's not mincing words....the xover work that was done is just awful and as I told him, I am shocked he didn't have an amplifier blow up. They are just in bad shape not to mention one is completely blown.

I'll get him fixed up and happy again, that's just what us Polkies do here.

Trey - I believe it's ok but thanks much.

As far as I know it's only Trey, Face, F1Nut and myself that have done board work for members but I may wrong. You won't get anything bad done from any of the other three, and I'd bet my life on that one.

That inductor toasted because it was either undersized or it was wrapped in so much hot glue that it retained too much heat.

I'm a EE that builds my own prototype boards. I solder all the time and have access to some nice equipment. It looks like you have enough soldering help already but can be used in reserve if needed.

BTW, I bought some tweeters a couple months ago from Ben. After a few emails and one phone call, I still haven't seen them. I have offered to go pick them up since I live about an hour away. If anyone has confirmed stuff at his house then I would be willing to pick up other equipment too, that is if he replies.

I will like to note that I am currently not accepting new board work --

I have had two issues though, one was a "just getting started" mistake and one was one I caught after shipment and all have been resolved.

    Everything has been flawless.

I do plan to mod more in the future!

I have to ask what in the heck was done to that board for it to do that to an inductor? I did not even know you could fry an inductor... lol
