I'd call Polk or those dealers to see where you may get your ears on a pair. I've got mine on a pair right now!
-
Your center channel is not centered - that would drive me nuts! Also, it looks to be in contact with the wall - not recommended from my experience.

The LSiC is meant to be mounted to the wall. It helps reinforce the bass response from the powerports in the back. Many of the guys here say it sounds its best when mounted on the wall as opposed to being on top an entertainment center."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Man, UPS sure knows how to make a speaker feel right...

I'm liking the lit package, nice touch...

Unboxed and ready to play! I'll most likely run them this afternoon and tonight with MOG streaming, and all day tomorrow to get some hours through them. Tomorrow night I'll spin some discs through them...
Thanks again Polk, and Jon!
Dude, the symmetry of your system is BUGGING me. -

Not recommended with the LSiC, or not recommended with some other center channel speaker? The way the ports are configured on the rear of the LSiC eliminates worry about contact with the rear wall.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

After hearing the 707's at CES last year I've been itching to hear more...
Are either of the speakers making their way further inland? If so I'd love to demo them and put on a show for any interested parties in the Salt Lake City area!Up

I agree. Nice speakers but make some measurements. You will have a very nice system then.Fronts:B&W 804 Diamonds, Center: B&W HTM2 Diamond, Surrounds: PolkAudio LSi F/X (4)

I'd really like to demo the 707's. I'm on the east coast just north of Philadelphia Pa.Dan

Does anyone know if the new Polk LSIM surrounds are bipole speakers only? If so, is this the new trend here?Fronts:B&W 804 Diamonds, Center: B&W HTM2 Diamond, Surrounds: PolkAudio LSi F/X (4)

They make the LSiM 703's which are bookshelf and can be used as surrounds......
Here is how the comparison breaks down new to old:
LSiC replaced by LSiM 704c and LSiM 706c
LSi F/X's were replaced by the LSiM 702 F/X
LSi 7 and LSi 9 were replaced by the LSiM 703
LSi 15 was replaced by the LSiM 705
LSi 25 was replaced by the LSiM 707
just like the LSi series you can use the bookshelf speakers as surrounds or use the bi-pole di-pole speakers. When I go 7.1 I havent decided if I will go with another set of LSi F/X's or a set of LSi 7's or LSi 9's"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Please clarify. Are you saying that the LSiM 702F/X (surround speaker) can be used as either a bipole or a dipole speaker? I didn't notice any type of switch in the photos or anything in the Polk advertising about this.Fronts:B&W 804 Diamonds, Center: B&W HTM2 Diamond, Surrounds: PolkAudio LSi F/X (4)

I'd like to get on the 703 demo list if they ever make their way back thru Southern California.

No dipole bipole switch.

My apologies I just looked again and Leroy is correct, there is no option on these like the LSi F/X's. I made an assupmtion and we all know what that does ....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." The 702 isn't really a bipole nor a dipole. I'd consider it to be a direct speaker... it's just that the sonic engine is angled relative to the mid woofer. I'd speculate that it was cost-prohibitive to put an entire sonic engine on both sides.. but that would've been swee:cool:eet!2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

Because the LSiM 702F/X is a bipole speaker only, are people with a 5.1 set up putting them on the back wall only rather than the sidewall? What about for a 7.1 set up?Fronts:B&W 804 Diamonds, Center: B&W HTM2 Diamond, Surrounds: PolkAudio LSi F/X (4)

No, you can put it on either side or back- the manual has the recommended orientation, but with other surrounds of a similar design, I've found that it just comes down to personal taste and the specific room.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

It's not a bipole; it's direct.
For 5.1, it'll be dependent on the room, which is true of any speaker, bipole, dipole, or otherwise. For 7.1 I'd run (1) pair as sides and (1) pair as rears.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

To expand on this- you can achieve something like direct, bipole and dipole based on the placement. Tweeters forward, on side walls, behind listening position will give you a direct sound; but any configuration where you get the tweeters both bouncing off the walls and with a direct path will give something akin to a bipole/dipole sound. The precise phasing will depend on the spacing to the wall and the to the listening position and the dominant frequencies.
How I set up my surround system when I was free to put the speakers where I wanted was to get two friends to hold them at the appropriate height, over their heads (so they weren't blocking the sound too much). Put on your favorite scene with good surround (Beach scene in saving private ryan, plenty of stuff in LOTR, etc), and just try out as many configurations as possible. When it "pops" for you, put them there (and hope it's not the middle of a doorway).Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Hey Cody who gets these next?

I think Travis, I need to email him today or tomorrow. It would work best if we could meet in or outside of Boone on a Friday, but I'll just have to see his details.

Cody- try to call me between 9-11pm any evening and we can discuss logistics of handing these off and in what order. If it's easier for Conradicles to get them next, I'm fine with waiting and then trying to get them to Scottyboy after my turn.

Good deal, we'll figure it out. I have to post my impressions?!?! To sum it up so far, I've been wide open at work, and haven't had a whole lot of time with these to do any critical. But, they do sound great. I'm working on getting something together for everyone, it's mostly going to be how I think these sound vs. the LSi9's. The 703's do somethings better, but I can't say they do everything better. I need to tinker with some setup to be completely fair, and I should have a few nights this week to do that.
Dan said you we're wanting to hear a decent sub the other day on the phone, so if you wanted to make a day trip down here I have an Outlaw LFM-1+ you could get your ears on, just another idea. -
