    You cannot rip SACD.

I Know that.. but you can rip Hybrid as a normal 16/44.1 FLAC file b/c its also a regular CD... while I know the SACD portion sounds better, I've to be in a particular mood to feel like getting out of my seat to use the changer.. I've become lazy with streaming completely from my laptop.

I use my CD player daily. One of these days I might switch to an all digital setup, but for now I have too many CDs not to use my CD player. Although, I was listening to some 24/96 FLAC files last night and they sounded incredible...

I used my CD / DVD / SACD multi-player 10 minutes ago. It gets used daily and I don't see any change for the far future.

Amazon emailed me Monday that they shipped Lady Gaga. If she is at the house when I get home then most definitely the SACD/CD player will be used. If not I will probably play one or two new classical CDs that are sitting on top of the rack.

I got my copy of her new cd wednesday... It sucks!!!! I loved her other CDs but this cd has the worst mixing I have ever heard.

I haven't used my CD player in more than 6 months. Even though I mostly play SACD's I use my Blu Ray/SACD player to play CD's. I probably only play CD's once a month. Maybe one of these days I would go lossless and store my CD's on a hard drive but I've got a lot of them - seems like a lot of work. I play some CD's I loaded on my computer but they are not lossless. The small speakers I have on the computer don't need it to be.
What's the best interface to choose a song once you load it on a hard drive? That's the other thing that has discouraged me from ripping all my CD's to FLAC.

I've ripped all mine to FLAC using dBpoweramp & J. River Media Center. Both do a great job & are well thought out programs & are very easy to use. And you're right...it is a bit time consuming but well worth it in the end. Make sure you back all the tunes up!

I use my player primarily for SACD's the rest of the CD collection is ripped to flac and on my Squeezebox server which is what I listen to most. It is so nice to have control right from the palm of your hand or computer....no more hunt and find and manually load.

I read similar comments from folks using servers, computers, etc. and think that there must be a lot more people with ADHD out there than realized.

I now use a iPod classic for the home and car audio. I let the better DAC's in the Pio Elite SC-35 do all the work. Then take the iPod or my iPhone 4 to the car and do the same with my Kenwood Excelon.

I on use a disc when I'm playing concert DVD's in the car or house for the 5.1 live sound.

Its been years. Converted all of my CD's to MP3 about 4 years back and then sold them. I like the ability to carry 30 gigs of music between home, car and work. Plus, its nice not having piles of CD's here and there.

I use mine as often as possible, with yesterday being the last time. I have been looking at mid to high end used players on Audiogon and Canuck Audio Mart the last little while, and the prices are pretty good,so I may even upgrade my existing player.

In that case your previous comment is false as all you are streaming is the Redbook layer.

no its a PCM capture of the the 24-bit DSD signal.
There's pretty good documentation on how to do it on the net.

A friend of mine with an Oppo player made backups of my discs for me using this type of method.

    Sorry, it's still not SACD.

Another thing you got wrong.....DSD is not 24 bit, it's 1 bit.
