When was the last time you have used your CD player?

Just wondering when the last time you guys have actually used your CD players. Ever since I got my iMac in late 2009 I haven't really used my CD player that much. With some stuff I think the CD player sounds better but its no where near as convenient as the Mac. I have all of my CD rip as Apple Lossless running into my PS audio Digital Link DAC and it sounds great.

I did the same thing a few days ago. But me being use to changing artist so much I listened to one track and then switched back to the Mac to listen to some other stuff.

I'm with treitz3 on this, just made a heavy (by my standards) investment in a Jolida Music Van and you better believe I'm going to be listening to it!

used mine last night... and will use it again tonight. Why wouldn't I? It sounds good (with a hotrodded outboard DAC) and it has a remote control.

Used my SACD/CD player yesterday, plan on running it all weekend - got some new discs to play.

While everyone else is downloading, ripping, backing up, pulling down image files, creating folder structures, re-arranging playlists, I'll be listening.....just slightly ribbing you server guys...

Last night. However, I mostly use it to verify if a CD or Hybrid SACD is worth putting on the iPod. If it is worthy then the CD will only be played in the car after it gets ported to the iPod. If a CD is not iPod worthy, it might get played again at some time in the future, then maybe not. Obviously, SACDs require using the SACD player.

I have no desire to listen to any other format as music - even as background music. Ill listen to the same CD all day before the computer starts running the show ;)

Don't knock it until you give it a really serious workout. I had the same narrow minded view and I'm a complete convert. Only down fall is you can't stream SACD, but with high rez dl's more readily available that won't be an issue in the future.

You guys remind me of the vinyl crowd when CD's became popular, they were holding onto their dated format for dear life.

Like it or not, downloadable music is the way of the future. Done right, it can sound just as good, if not better than those shiny plastic gold or silver disks.

I play cds on the shigaclone transport through my TPA buffaloII dac almost every day. It sounds better than the computer through the same dac. Someday I will get a usb to spdif interface to help the computer, but for now the transport sounds noticeably better.

I have tried vinyl and it just had to much back ground noise for me. That why I have gone with a computer with a real nice DAC it one of the quietest sources I have used.
