Yeah me too, it took months for Klaus to resolve my issues and I lived 10 minutes from his house. -
Sell and move into an EMo.

Don't be ridiculous. The lower end Odyssey amps could be bested by the best of Emo, but the completely tricked out Kismet amps (that Trey has) walk all over anything made by Emo. And trust me, this comes from someone who pretty much despises Odyssey and loves Emotiva for the niche product that it is. -

The Kismet stuff is freaking stupid. I mean who uses 8 awg wire inside an amplifier? LOL I mean really.
I cant wait to see the guts of the full blown Kismet amps - should be intense. The beefier - the bigger the flame baby!
Need to get an extinguisher 4 times the size of the one above.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I forgot the smiley.
Thank God, I cringed when I hit enter for fear that I just took the bait for an Emo War. I'm exhausted and kicked myself . . . -

Trey,
When I ordered my Amps in the Spring of 2007, Klaus was having a slow
Month(April). I'm only 2hr from Indy,so I drove down to pick my Amps up.

But the story between me and him on me acquiring these amps is a long, drawn out mud fight.
I ordered new amps - waited 6 months and bought used ones. It got so bad at the end that I went on his forum and wrote a 5 page rant on why this was male bovine excrement.
Since that time I have bought a CD player and so forth and me and Klaus are buds and all that jazz.
But it has been a road of ups and downs, fires and more- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I've followed your Odyssey/Taylor postings for several years, and have found myself interested in both. However, the recent problems with the Odyssey gear does concern me. My question to you is if you end up dumping Odyssey what will be your next step? -
I must admit that is an interesting question...
I honestly do not know.
I have heard Mcintosh gear - Pass Labs... I mean all kinds of stuff and Odyssey just does it for me.
I would possibly entertain Symphonic Line gear if I could swing it (What Odyssey is based off of)
To be honest I consider Tyler and Odyssey to be the best bang for the buck out there. Particularly Tyler Acoustics because with some simple mods you can make them almost unbeatable- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Hey Trey, slightly off topic, but what made you distinguish Tyler from other small biz custom brands like Selah?
-
Hehe -
Thats a good question too -
Alot of my system was guided by Sean (Zero) that use to frequent here...
He knew alot about my musical preference and he recommended to me the Tyler Acoustic Taylo 7u -- which btw rocked my socks! lol
But I just looked at Selah and I can tell you I wouldnt have gone that route as I am not a big ribbon fan...
Salk caught my attention around the same time - but I can assure you anyone who talks to Ty and is interested in his speakers will go with Ty every time.
Ty is an amazing dude and the last four years we have probably exchanged 400 plus emails!
What I like about Tyler speakers over other brands I have heard is they are detailed enough to do the "audiophile" stuff. But if I want to throw down with some rock music they cant do that just as well without displaying to much information. To me that is hard to find in the higher end market.
Now Ty's newest stuff with his drivers - I must admit I do not like it. I hate to say it - I have had the D3 and D2 in my possession at one point or another and they do nothing for me.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I had the chance to hear a pair of D3s, and thought they sounded ok for the money. They are still better than a lot in the market, but I wasn't terribly wowed.
I like the design of the Selah RC5 . . . and no ribbon tweeter: http://www.selahaudio.com/id129.html

Well - in comparison to the 7u and my Super Towers...
We had the D3 hooked up 15 minutes and they were back in the box. I did not like them at all. Thats why my buddy went with the PD line from Ty.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

The PD line is right up my alley. I love the efficiency and power of pro drivers. One of these days I have to get my ears on those speakers. How are the dynamics compared ot your supertowers? -
I did not see that on their website - they look very nice..
Thats another thing - the price tag... $7,495 / pair
I paid south of 3k for my 7u Tylers... loved them... and my Super Towers - I cant even tell you the price it was so stupid. But to put it in perspective with my Super Towers decked out with Clarity MR, SA and duelund and all that jazz - I could of used the left over coin to buy a preamp and a nice CD player.
Thats what makes Ty unique to me.. lol- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
My buddy is running a Pioneer Elite receiver and a parasound amplifier - so they are a little harsh for my taste..
But dynamics? Thats hard to say - I would say dynamically they are similar - my super towers can pressurize with no issues.
Shear force? The PD's win hands down. They are down right uncomfortable - easily capable of 120db ++- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

IMO decibels are a bad measure of dynamics. Usually the urge to continuously turn the volume up to achieve greater physical connection to the music means your system lacks dynamics at any volume. I love the speakers I presently have because even at low volumes I feel the physical connection with the music. -
Yeah thats the way my Super Towers are..
I imagine the PD series is capable of that - but at this moment he does not have the gear list to achieve that type of fidelity...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

You are damn right about the pricing. I spoke to Ty on one occasion and am well aware of his willingness to negotiate pricing. By contrast, I hear Selah is a little less flexible. -
Yeah man - Ty will hook you up. You cant even build them for the price he sells them for sometimes it seems.. lol- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Rick from Selah is one of the brightest people I've spoken to in the industry. If you're interested in one of his lines, he generally doesn't have a problem with changing the voicing to your listening environment or personal preference.
Another smaller company that produces a good product is Clearwave Loudspeaker Design: http://www.clearwaveloudspeaker.com/speakers.html I recently heard one of his designs and was impressed. I believe my local dealer is picking up the line, so I should hear more models soon."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
Clearwave reminds me a little of Avalon Acoustics.
There are so many brands out there. Unfortunately my wallet is not as thick as it used to be! LOL! So I have to enjoy what I have instead of buying all kinds of stuff... but modifications keep it new and exciting.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Just to chime in, I purchased a used Odyssey Stratos dual mono amp about 4 months ago. I think it's the best thing I've heard to date, and couldn't be happier. Luckily I have had no issues with it, and I'm sure many out there would say they have had no issues. I understand the negativity that could come out of your situation, but just wanted to say for those people looking for an amp, I would keep Odyssey on your list and at least listen. I think every company has had it's bad products, but at least this one is one that fixes that problem, and immediately to the customers satisfaction.
I'm not a fanboy, but love my amp, and would hate to see the name tarnished on the board because of one bad incident.
