As promised, I am attaching a couple of photos of my finished basement. There's a photo here for the poker players too. Everything turned out great thanks to many of the folks on here that offered guidance, support, and recommendations. Special thanks to DarqueKnight, jeeper_nick, bevo, and many others. We watched Tron in 3D last night, and although the story line was incredibly weak, the visual effects and sound were amazing. The PB13-Ultra absolutely ROCKS!

System includes Onkyo 3008, Oppo-93, 2 Niles HPS-6 selectors, Samsung 64" Plasma 7000, and Samsung 55" LED. 5.1 speakers include Polk 2 - LC265i's, 1 - LCi-C, 2 - LC80i's, and an SVS PB13-Ultra. Other speakers for background music include 4 - LCi80's, 4 - LCi65's, and 4 - Atrium 65's.

Thanks for the compliment. I can't believe how great these polk speakers sound. I am by no means an expert, but to me they have awesome articulation, definition, and clarity. And, again, can't say enough about the raw power of the subwoofer. It makes my window blinds rattle!

Really nice work, nice set up. How did you get the ceiling so 'high' in the TV area? Is that a new home, because few if any older homes have more than 7' max in height...and part of that has to be used for electrical and ceiling panels or drywall? Just curious.

You have a tiered system up there? Are you in some kind of split-level? I see windows in that dining area. Are those 'real' or faux treatments? Because to me basement means small windows and lack of windows in some rooms, with a good 5 or more feet of the available 7' under ground level.

We have 9' ceilings in the basement. We framed around HVAC that was lower than 9' to be included as part of the ceiling design; that way, it looks as though we are not trying to frame around or hide something.

    Very, very nice.

I can't wait until the day comes to start converting one of the rooms in my basement into a dedicated HT. Although I suffer from the 7' ceiling issue.

I'm confused......why does your basement look better than my whole house?

Thanks for all the compliments. The process to build was 2 years of weekends and many weeknights. Listening to music through SACD or watching a 3D movie was worth the wait. The sound IMO is much better than the viewing experience.

    Really nice set up.

As for the pool table, make sure you monitor the humidity around that thing year round...

I made that mistake on mine.

Not sure where you live, but where I am in the NE, the humidity will swing wildly through out the year. Summers over 90% and winters down near 30%.

I'm now trying to figure out if I have to replace all four legs on my table since they all have splits in the wood. Plus I have to re-level my table every change of the damn season. This year is the year of whole house de-humidifiers AND humidifiers...

Too low of humidity is murder on pool tables, mostly the felt.

Great point on the humidity levels. I'll check those as the humidity can swing from winter to summer. Time to watch a movie :)

Ha, I was wondering when someone was going to ask me that?! You'll notice the sub peaking out in the lower left-hand corner of photo #5. The sub sits at the end of our sectional. It actually blends quite nicely with the rest of our furniture; most people think it's an end table because of its size.

It looks very inviting and comfortable. The word "basement" seems to be highly inadequate for such a nice space. I'd call it the "lower level" from now on. Congrats!!

Here's a couple of additional photos showing the subwoofer at the end of the sectional. I was originally going to build a table to cover it, but it looks bad a$$ I'll try to get better photos of the sub but it's all I have with me at the moment. Thanks again for the compliments.

Only problem -- if you call it that -- is the PB13-Ultra rattles the fireplace
