So I played some co-op with a friend last night and it was fun. The second mission is good because we have to fly a helicopter and it'll be good practice for the multiplayer.

Speaking of which, when I join a multiplayer game, is there a way to join with a friend so we are in the same game? Do we have to squad up beforehand somehow?

Praz, I'll be on around 915 cst. I've been playing both rush and Conquest. Like em both.

Mud, it's easiest to have your friend join your squad before joining, via the manage squad under quickmatch menu. If u get split up when joining, u can still switch teams when dead if teams won't be unbalanced, and can switch squads any time.

Fine fine! As long as we mix it up - I'm partial to conquest :) Anyway I'll be on in the evening - I can play until about 8:30 or 9pm (PT) as my cousin's husband is coming over to hang out until he picks up my cousin from the airport.

Got on with Shep, zeros, biron, and Praz Friday (along with others who knew zeros) , and wow, thats what this game is about. You just don't get those kind of dogfights in COD, this game is meant to be played with friends.

I won't be tonight cause of the Steelers game/Walking dead, but would like to join up with a few of you guys again soon. Fridays are hit and miss for me to play, but if thats the only time you guys can usually get on as a group then so be it

Ok. So multiplayer is good, and like the physics on it, and how some of the environment is destructible. Note the word some.... The one thing that kind of gets on my nerves is that if someone is hiding in a bush, you can not blow up the bush. However in BC 2 if I saw someone hiding in a bush, I will take them out, then destroy the bush they were in. In battlefield 3 it seems that the lost this, and is kind of irritating. Overall I like the multiplayer though, just wish dice would make an update so, that like in real life everything can be destroyed even the bush's..

I'm not positive, but I believe they had to tone the destruction down a bit in order to keep frame-rates up.

That would make sense, but you would think that with the new engine it would be able to support that no matter what. I would think that would be part of the basics for them, but I guess not.

The engine isn't the problem, its the consoles. They created an engine that would take advantage of todays PC. 2011 PC =/= xbox360 from 2005.

I get what your saying, but again look at BC2, they were able to do it then..... At the end of the day though the compairson will still be the same, and will also be the reason why some of the enviorenment is not destructible. Another issue I have is there is no hard core mode. I really enjoy that kind of game play. Alot more realistic, and this whole empty an entire mag into someone is just not realistic, or at least not to me. If I hit someone three - four good times in the right area you are going down.... Oh well it is just how the cookie crumbles....

I'm glad they didn't dumb it down across the board.

It's night and day trying to play on the 360 vs the PC. One thing I don't understand is why it has to be so slow - for good or bad COD runs much smoother - movement and all. Maybe it's the larger maps, maybe it's a shoddy port of a PC game to the consoles. It's not unplayable, but it takes away from the fun a little.

The PC version has its own issues. Hackers for one. Spawn locations are horrible - spawning right in front of the enemy multiple times is just stupid. Some of the maps are just not suited for conquest (Operation Metro especially). Otherwise, I've enjoyed the PC version (my OCD from the old BF days was in full effect the last week - had to force myself to just not play at all today).

Otherwise, I don't think the graphics engine is very demanding considering how fast today's multi-core cpus and gpus are. But for a 5 year old console, I can see the 360 struggling. Anyone know how the PS3 folks are faring?

Conquest Metro should be renamed Spamalot! Great map for acquiring points though.

HA agreed. You can rack up support points and eng points (noob tubing left and right) - but if you're the team having to come from the subway down below, you're pretty much screwed unless you get that ticket area flag.

Battlefield 3 is definitely a PC game ported to consoles. "Low" graphics quality on the PC is equal to the consoles. That said, the engine is a lot newer and more intensive than the CoD engines (which haven't changed much technically or graphically). That said, it's really a demanding game so break out your quad-cores and recent higher-end graphics cards. It runs fine on my Q8300 & HD5850.
