What is the best debut album, you have ever heard, Mine, The Cars, 1978, elektra records
Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.

well, I cannot claim it is the best ever integrated over all time and space, but my knee-jerk reaction would be Crack the Sky's eponymous debut. A stunning album; won an award from Rolling Stone magazine at the time (1975).

Boston self titled comes to mind and recently I would say Arcade Fire " Funeral"
-
Van Halen's is another.

Actually...any one of the above 8 albums could be considered the best debut album I've ever heard. I own them all...they are all excellent...very hard to choose just 1."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

+1
I remember the first time I heard this album. I was 18yo, in the Army, living in the barracks and one of my buds put this on his table. IIRC, he had a higher end Pioneer turntable, a Kenwood Super Eleven and some huge Sansui monolith speakers. I was blown away by all the catchy tunes. This and Candy-O are a pair of my all time faves, I have both on Nautilus, 1/2 speed master LPs. I spun this on my table yesterday, as a matter of fact. Not a bad song on this record.
Yeah - very cool debut album.
My memories of this are when I was 18 working at Wherehouse Records in Fashion Valley in San Diego. Disco was big and we always had to have the big sellers playing 'in store'. My manager hated disco as much as I did, so any chance we could - we'd play this record during our shifts. When I quit, I got the store (cut cover) copy....still got it...a bit beat up and abused - but it cleaned up ok.

Black Sabbath
Led Zepplin
Robin Trower
King Crimson
....whew. If I had to pick one, it would be Black Sabbath; stands on it's own, but .... what a game changer, IMO.Sal Palooza -
I've got that album GD. Mine doesn't have the 3D cover though. Excellent.
I like all of the above answers and would like to add Peter Gabriel's first album. Maybe it was that I was high on acid at the time, but the first hearing totally changed my taste in music at the time. And it was sooooo different than his stuff with Genesis.
