Yep, that would be a great setup!

After owning duals I'd never go single ever again.

I know this is no where near the likes of the SVS, but after I built the end table sub for my friend, he now wants a second one for the other side of the room:biggrin: Sounds great with the single, but more is better:tongue: His gf however is not so thrilled with the idea, she just wants the second to be a table only:rolleyes: lol

I was thinking of Duals in the front and a single Ultra-13 in the rear between
my rear speakers. Once again the Ultra-13 is out of stock until the 2nd week
of January 2011. The Ultra-13s are selling like Hotcakes! For the Money you
can't beat the price for built and Sound quality. It's a 155LBS monster:biggrin:

I have one of their subs, plenty bang for the buck for a HT sub.

The Retail List price for Elemental Design Subs are very high, but the price
they sell for are reasonable. For example the List price for the A7-450 is
$4950.00 but its sells for $1650.00:confused:

For the price I'd take dual Empires over the ultra and still have a couple hundred left.

I have a huge problem with Epik subwoofers...

Their lack of features in their amps is crazy.

I mean I guess if you dont like the ability to use a subwoofer in something other than a Mono or a HT system they are ok - but jesus.

I dont think the dual Empires would be as good as one Ultra-13, its just
that good. But i could be wrong-not:tongue:

Most people only use the LFE. That's what they're known for, big bad **** HT subs that'll piss the wife off.
The Conquest has got some great reviews, wish they were still in production.

    Huh?

What 'features' are you talking about?

Ok, but is that the only 'feature' lacking that makes Epik subs suck??

    Not even close...

Crossover down to only 50hz - thats a music integration night mare...

Phase switch vs a variable phase knob...

    The inputs

I dont know - its not very music friendly... cant sound good playing music if you cant set it up properly for music eh?

Mine is dialed in sweet...for music. Guess it depends on synergy eh?

Oh well - this is a eD thread - to each their own.

Im sure they sound great. Ill never know because of the -lack of features in the amp- hence my purchase of the ED subwoofer which for less money has everything I mentioned with lower extention.

Epik makes a good built product - but if they truly were competitive their amps would have everything mentioned above, sucks I know but SVS, HSU and ED all have it...

At this rate I verified I could hook it up atleast so I am off to a good start....

Although I gotta admit it is fun to try out stuff like this ---

If this doesnt work out I guess Ill give SVS a try? Maybe build something --

They must be doing something right because they can't seem to keep a sub in stock very long. Already the Legend is out of stock.

lol - Guys seriously... Im sure they sound awesome. I wish I could have plugged the thing in...

Id be *real* interested in comparing the ED Im ordering and the Epik Legend in 2 channel along with the SVS in the same room but I cant swing that.

They actually forget all the cool features and throw in Brad Nail Holes that you cant see far away - just up close...

Hmm not really -- Polkfest is more about the people and music than gear... People rarely swap gear in and out.. lol

That guy is going to lose big sales over that thread. The funny thing about it is he has created a list of most of the top subs out there and rated them. So out of all the top dog subs he reviewed you would think he would know what it takes to build a great diy sub.
