I have one of their subs, plenty bang for the buck for a HT sub.

Cool. For HT or to supplement 2-channel?

    2 channel --

Cross it over at 35-40hz, low volume --- just need some extra low end fill

The Super Towers can do the 40hz and up bass that needs the refinement.

Sounds like it should fit the bill. What's their expected delivery time?

Probably not much, but I guess the answer is; depends what you're listening to.

bass below 40hz really sets the -depth- to music...

You would be surprised how much information is down there from natural roll off of instruments and so forth that gives appropriate weight and depth that you other wise would not have.

Not to mention it will help reinforce when my Super Towers start to roll off.

I was going to get a sealed design but was not crazy about the cheesey white driver

Congrats ! Looks like a lot of sub for the money and not a light weight. I highly recommend Room EQ WIzard (REW) to find best placement and visibility to managing peaks.

    Oh yeah --

My Tyler Acoustic subs were ported and I can tell there was no sign of any boom or coloration. Quite the opposite - those subs had far more texture, tone and accuracy than any other sub I have owned to date.

Are you going to run this with the sub your building? Should be very intense with both subs running. Regardless congrats on the purchase. Looking forward to your thoughts on this beast also.

The sub will be running but it will be crossed over with the Mains - so it really wont be doing much if anything, I guess I could up the crossover during movies to get a bit more of that 80hz slam but yeah

I think having a system that can produce bass as low as 14Hz is essential for even two channel. Trey is exactly right that you would be losing some musical depth without a system that can produce those lower frequencies.

For me,music without strong bass is boring. That's why I use multiple subs in my 2 ch.

I use to be like that --

The higher resolution your mids and highs are and the better they image the less you need bass to draw you in

You should have ordered the A7s-450 sealed subs with their 1300W plate amps and eq.2.

It works a wonder for both music and HT if you don't mind the size.

Eh I dont need something big - I was going to order the lil 350 dollar one - but again I dont like the white driver.

I need low level, low extention, stereo inputs.

HT belongs to my custom beast! :)

You know what is funny -

ED reminds me of SVS when they first came out.

Believe it or not there use to be a time when you could get a SVS Ultra for a thousand bucks and I nice entry level subwoofer for like 500 to your door!

    Insanity!

I was checking their prices on their site and almost picked up their lowest model to give a shot before I checked ED's site --

Their prices have gone up quite a bit and their product is no longer made in the USA.

I guess its growth and all that stuff, but I will gladly support the little guys in Iowa who hand make the product than the big boys.

I love Internet Direct companies like Tyler Acoustics, Odyssey, ED - you can call up and literally talk to the guy who built, assembled, designed, and sold you your product in one step.

Im not saying SVS is a bad deal - I am just saying as each year passes they become closer and closer to what you can pay for the big big names like Velodyne and the like.

    :)

Wasn't able to edit it sorry.

" once you go Internet Direct you never go back"

Meaning you get more for your money buying from a ID company.

I ran plenty of JL audio systems in my vehicles until I was referred to Elemental Design. ED is 85-90% of the performance and sound for much less money. Always enjoyed their simple, but elegant design and great service.

JL stuff is too $$$ for me. $11.000 or more for the Gotham I think.

I recently heard a pair of JL Fathom's at a friend's place, they sounded very nice, but he's still considering upgrading to a pair of Gothams.

I'd love for SVS to go all out and make a PB13 Ultra/2, I think they could do it and make something awesome.

    :)

Taken from the SVS PB-13 Ultra website:

Hardly inexpensive, but worth every penny, and then some. Compare our Ultra products to the most insanely priced subwoofers from any brand.

Hard to imagine but still under $2000, virtually nothing comes close. As with all our products, they usually trounce most any competitor costing 2-3 times as much.

Although the price has gone up, its a bargain compared to Velodyne DD series
and the JL Fathom F113. Even now with it's higher prices, you can buy two
Ultra-13s for the price of one F113!

I think 2 ultra's would sound better. One next to each front speaker.
