Favorite Barbecue sauce?

My humble setup...

I use a concoction of Bone Sucking dry rub and some other seasoning I have - especially for chicken.
But when I do use a bbq sauce - another vote for Sweet Baby Rays - or Stubbs.
I found a really good teriyaki marinade/sauce - Kona Coast. Not watery - thicker and it really sticks to the meat and carmelizes perfectly.
I like Stubbs also. I get the Spicy hot and mix in some KC Masterpiece for some sweetness. Very good combination. Might have to substitute SBR's for the KC next time. -

Oh don't get me wrong...I am a firm believer in the meat standing on its own with the rub. If it *needs* sauce then something wasn't done right in prep and cooking.
Sauce should only ever be an accent to the flavor or an accompaniment...never the flavor of the BBQ."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

There's nothing 'right' or 'wrong' in using a sauce....you prep it the way you like it.

Hey, ZLTFUL. This thread isn't to debate whether or not properly prepared meat needs sauce. It's about the sauce itself, specifically BBQ sauce. Not all sauces are created alike and the sauce [when used] can make or break the meat, regardless of the prep.

Apparently, you took this as a personal affront. It wasn't meant to be. I agree, sauces can make or break the meat. But 434 BBQ awards my family has won (http://www.smokeydsbbq.com/index.html) without using a drop of sauce says that good meat shouldn't need sauce. I personally use sauce to accent the flavor. But if you like meat that requires sauce to taste good, more power to you. Didn't know you were so passionate about glorified ketchup.
You might want to make note that I was simply responding Erik Tracy's post so if you really want to get technical about it, he was the one presenting a debate. Not me."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

Good grief man. I'm not going to argue with you about this. I was simply stating that the thread was about BBQ Sauce and not the technical merits of whether meat needs it or not.But if you like meat that requires sauce to taste good, more power to you.
Give me a damned break. Congrat's on the awards but let's keep this thread on track please. That being about BBQ sauce. That's what I'm passionate about. The meat and the BBQ sauce.

I had to laugh tonight, after having just read this thread about Sweet Baby Ray's and the mention of spicing it up with Sriracha sauce, I went to a friend's house who grilled some chicken and he got out those exact two things to baste it with. And yeah, it was quite good.
-
None! Olive oil, garlic, salt & pepper.
-
Sriracha is great. Lays made a.sriracha potato chip. Really good

For store bought sauce i like Famous Dave's Texas Pit. It is more of a tomato / pepper bases and not as sweet. When I do a pork butt I take 2 bottles and dump them in to a bean pot. Then leave it in the smoker the whole time I do the butt. That way your sauce takes on the same smoke flavor as the meat.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

Spade L Ranch beef seasoning is really popular in this part of the country. They make 3 other varieties but most use the beef seasoning for for pork as well. You'll have to order on line unless you live out West but you'll thank me if you do.

Another good cheap sauce is Kroger thick n spicy. It holds up well on the grill so no need to keep reapplying. Nice flavor with a little kick. I imagine Kraft or some other large manufacturer makes it.
