That's what I would have done too.

That man is awesome and should be held to 'hero' status to anybody who genuinely hates their job! He clearly already did and was bottling it all up.

It will be a shame if he has to do 1 day or pay any fine whatsoever. What he did was hilarious.

IMO the guy is an irresponsible clown who is now getting his "15 minutes of fame". Sure we would all like to do something like that when we get pissed off...but the other 99.9% of us act like reasonable, responsible adults and do our job...or quit without all of the "drama".

I fully expect to see a bunch of copycat incidents for a while, some of which may get ugly and really create some problems or injuries (not just in the airline business). This guy will hit the talk show circuit and will end up on a reality TV show with brief hero status. I hope he at least gets convicted of some sort of crime, but I don't care if he spends anymore time in jail because that would only increase his band of cult followers.

At first it "seemed" kinda cool...but the more I see of this story, the more disgusted I become over what it now takes to become a "hero" in the eyes of many.

Sorry, but I don't want any of the Kool-Aid. The sooner this guy goes away the better.

After seeing the person who is responsible for communicating safety information to all of the passengers slid down that chute , every person on that aircraft should have followed his lead and gone down the chute.

Thats one E-Ticket ride I would not have passed up on , even more exclusive than a fighter jet ride or a visit to the oval office...and all you would have had to say was that seeing the steward deploy the chute you feared passenger unrest and wanted to exit the plane as fast as possible.

Be nice to take that ride without jet fuel scorching your neck hairs :D

Those things require human assistance at the bottom and the top. At the bottom to stabilize the slide, and at the top to tell people not to jump onto the slide. The slide is like a trampoline, and if you're lucky, you'll bounce straight up and come straight down back onto the slide. If you're not lucky, you're getting some naptime on the tarmac.

I am done with this story... The guy is on the cover of USA Today looking like the smug hero. All he did was endanger the lives of passengers, the handlers on the ground, and tens of thousands in damage to the aircraft he was assigned. The jerk needs some jail-time and not some cult of worshippers praising him like the second coming.

Whatever happened to personal accountabilty and doing the right thing???

The guy is an ****. He has shown he is unstable and should NEVER be returned to any job where safety is an issue. He endangered the lives of people on the plane and also cost the airline a ton of money. Luckily the exit slide was not ingested in to the engine.

He disgusts me in every way.

I have to ask however, why is it you think someone that put other people's lives at risk is a hero? This was not the worlp slip-n-slide championships... He damaged and aircraft, traumatized innocents, and endangered others...

Are you a female John? I have to ask this question because virtually everything you say is full of drama and excess. The plane from my understanding was sitting still so little if any damage would have occurred from dropping the chute, not sure how you managed to dream up that the passengers lives were at risk, hell even the airlines stated that at no time were the passengers at risk, traumatized innocents? perhaps a few people may have been temporarily taken aback by his language but hardly scarred for life as you are claiming.

He done something that virtually everyone in customer service oriented jobs dream about told the woman who assaulted him and the airlines off in grand fashion and left on his terms via the chute :D Priceless.

I find it irresponsible yes, a wise move? no, something that damaged an aircraft, traumatized innocents, and endangered others? no.

Is he my hero and the hero of millions of others today for these reasons? yes.

In fact I intend to find the best picture I can find of him blow it up to a lifesize poster and put it on my wall simply because I know this will drive you nuts.

I hardly watch TV so all I have to go by is what I read in the various articles. This guy was clearly wrong to do what he did, but he did what so many people would love to do. On every flight I have ever been on there is always at least one total pain in the **** to deal with and I feel sorry for the flight crew.

I'm only sad there wasn't any video of this whole thing because I can picture him giggling like a school girl down the slide with his beers in tow.

    So, is it right? No
    Is it funny? Yes, IMO.

the dude is an ****, pure and simple. at first i was like "hell yeah", but that was my initial knee-jerk reaction. i'd assume pulling the chute would be synonymous to a person intentionally activating an airbag in someone ELSE'S vehicle. it takes time, cost and effort to get the plane back to to operational status. also, i'm certain this caused delays big-time for the other passengers and possibly the entire tarmac.

if he wanted to be insubordinate, he should have just backhanded the sole offender. sure he'd end up in jail, but it would not have affected so many others. he's getting his fame, but in reality, he's just another piece of **** to scrape off the soles of your shoe.

i hope i've offended somebody here.

With a straight face, I'd like someone to explain to me how he endangered anyone. The plane was not moving or in the air at the time, were people going to magically be sucked out the door? Did he attempt to take anyone with him? Well?

Those escape slides are destroyed by the act of deploying them. This alone is worth at least 10 grand. The potential for injury from dozens of panicked passengers trying to leave an aircraft because the don't understand what is happening, combined with aircraft handlers on the ground unaware that there is an escape slide weighing several hundred pounds droping off the belly of this bird and that is deploys explosively like a giant airbag is enough to easily see where people can be injured....

I have never had issue with you snow, and still don't. It would appear that we just disagree a bit on this and the other thread last night. I actually agree with your take on the other thread, but oh well. I fail to see why you needed to resort to personal attacks as you did in your prior posts.
