I'm going out on a limb here...but I'm guessing this guy is snow's hero.
Lol.
I've worked customer service, so I get having to deal with pissy people... but he quit his job... as in lost his income over it. I mean, who is really winning here?
If he hadn't been a news hit... he'd probably be regretting his decision about now. -

Or maybe you are defined some what by who your heros are.
Most impulsive decisions I have made in my past I now regret because in the end they were a net loss.
He lost his cool. There are better more clever ways to get back at that passenger. -

snow, what bugged the hell outta me as i was on the way out the door for work and caught a glimpse of reporters hovering over this nimrod like he was some sort of God. "how do you feel today? do you know that you're a hero to many the country-over? can you walk on water?"
then the ****-eatin' grin on his face...uhg.
you mean to tell me you'd wanna shake this moron's hand or give him a hug or high-five or worse... ?
i'll tell you what, a hero that really caught my attention today as i was driving home in opposing traffic with no way to stop was this pretty darn old guy i saw in my rear view mirror that had just pulled over to help a stopped vehicle when no one else would. i'm not terribly certain how much this gentleman could really do to help since he seemed too frail to actually push from behind, but he pulled over and ran to assist.
i was caught in rush hour traffic going the opposite direction so it would have been pretty much pointless for me to try to turn around to assist and i found myself hoping someone who saw this in time would view the situation as TWO persons in need of help and actually be able to pull over. as i drove with the flow of traffic watching in my rear view it became apperent to me that everyone esle seemed to have more pressing issues to tend to. now that broke my heart.
perhaps when they were far out of my view someone actually came to their aid. but these days are not like yesteryear. man, i hope no one accidentally rear-ended the man nor the stalled vehicle.
anyway, that old guy reminds me of my dad as well as my step-dad. heroes.

In my mind there are lots of things that can make one a hero, in other words doing something that I admire. It could be someone jumping in a frozen river to save anothers life or it could be a single mom working two jobs to ensure her child/children are fed and clothed properly.
What he did was not something heroic in the normal sense of the word but having worked with the public in the past and seeing them at their worst and dumbest, I can and do admire what he done even though not the smartest way of going about things.
There were times when I worked as a bouncer that I felt like really hurting some of the drunken idiots that I ran accross but didnt even though they attempted to hurt me.
I suppose I admire him for what he represents more so than his action but by taking a stand and saying im not taking this crap anymore from the public or from the airlines and actually having the balls to follow through with it gets my admiration.
Now if he had done something violent and actually hurt someone then no he wouldndt be my hero. For the most part what he did was harmless albeit dumb and something that a lot of people have wanted to do themselves tell their employer and the nasty, rude, oftentimes condescending public to kiss their ****.
Bully for the old man you mentioned
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

Hero is one of those words that is far too overused and waters down real heroes. As defined by a dictionary this guy could be considered a hero, I guess, but he's nothing more than a **** that couldn't keep his emotions in check. He did what others might have wanted to do but didn't because they are better people than this guy is. All sorts of things I'd love to do and never would because they'd be wrong.
I think the entire event washilarious, and I think you're too uptight if you couldn't see the humor, but I'll be the first to agree it was wrong.
He ought to pay the price for what he did. -
Looks like the guy may be adding LIAR to his list of warm and fuzzy attributes.Steven Slater may have made up the whole story about a passenger attacking him on the JetBlue flight ... this according to sources involved in the investigation.
Sources are telling us investigators still have not identified the elusive female passenger who allegedly went off on Slater ... curious to say the least.
We're told the airline and Port Authority investigators are not at all convinced the incident ever occurred. As one source connected with the investigation put it, "Crazier things have happened."
One source familiar with the situation tells TMZ investigators think some of Slater's story just doesn't track.
Slater's lawyer could not be reached for comment.

Police Sources Say Attendant May Have Been Drinking Before, During Flight That Ended With Emergency Chute Exit
Aug. 12, 2010

JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater may have been drinking long before he grabbed a beer and made a dramatic exit from a jetliner by opening an emergency slide to the tarmac at New York's Kennedy Airport, police said today.
Some passengers say Steven Slater started the confrontation.
Witnesses have also told police that it was Slater who was rude to passengers, and the cut on his forehead came at the beginning of the flight, not during an altercation with a surly passenger after the plane landed as Slater has claimed.
The accusations emerged just hours before a subdued Slater appeared next to his lawyer outside his home. Slater declined to say anything because, his lawyer said, he was too "emotionally concerned" to speak.
Police tell ABC News that interview with the plane's crew and passengers suggest Slater began drinking before the Pittsburgh to New York flight. Crew members noticed Slater's eyes appeared bloodshot at the outset of the flight, and other witnesses told police Slater was drinking while aboard the plane.
The rudeness to passengers, according to accounts, started at boarding.
"He got on with issues," one police official told ABC News. "When they were boarding he was very obnoxious."
Police told ABC News that no passenger or flight crew member interviewed by police had any recollection of an argument between Slater and the female passenger who allegedly cursed and berated him before causing an overhead bin door to strike the flight attendant, sources say.
Witnesses have told police that the injuries to Slater's forehead had been incurred prior to any incident with a female passenger who couldn't fit her outsized carry-on bag into the overhead bin.
Witnesses recalled Slater continuing to serve food and beverages while still apparently bleeding.
Slater and his lawyer appeared before reporters today outside the flight attendant's Queens home. Slater wore a brown polo short and stood silently behind his lawyer, Howard Turman.
Through his lawyer, Slater thanked JetBlue, as a "wonderful airline" that he wants to continue working for. The airline has suspended Slater."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." - Stuart Chase
