This all makes sense now for the most part. :)

PS: Stay away from the "republican" and other such words here. Threads that turn political are swiftly closed, and posters are treated like big taboos. That's what turned the other thread ugly, not necessarily your views on cable.

Most of us "believe" in cable here. ;)

Thanks for the advice, it probably has to do with the fact that a lot of sites can't seem to get away from politics and they tend to be very biased in terms of one orientation or another.

    Thanks.

Hey, that wasn't right Ricardo. All I ask is if you don't like me ignore my posts, easy huh? If I find myself not liking someone I'll simply stay away from their posts.

Do you know how to use multi-quote or are you gonna single post all your responses until you hit 100?
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. To summarize, you play with your cable while your wife examines birds all day. Makes ya wonder where the name "woodguru" came from? ;):p

Seriously dude, tone it down. You're not the only one that knows alot of stuff and you're not the only one here that plays with high dollar equipment or that has an opinion on cables. You can stay and play but if your ego gets out of control and you don't check it before you feel the need to make posts like this, you're gonna have a less than desirable existence here.

Welcome to Club Polk. See RuSsMaN for your tinfoil hat and F1nut has the bendy drinking straws so people don't poke themselves in the eye. Stay away from the doro guy, he's a weirdo and that sound in the bushes is just lightman relieving himself. He has a small bladder.

I try to stick to stuff I have had direct ownership and comparison experience with, I actually do a lot of asking and listening on the stuff I don't know about.

That is why I originally looked for a site like this, there are people who have had their hands on quite an array of Polks. You won't hear me spouting off anything about them either.

Sorry, but you come off as a condescending, crusty, "I know more than everyone else", name dropping elitist. It's in your writing style and I'm afraid it's not going to go over very well here.

When you throw things around like $$$ amonts and expensive cars and dropping names, and then opening with the most contraversial issue here on CP or in audio circle; CABLES etc. It comes off poorly since you are so new here. And I am highly suspicious of your motives and truly wanting to fit in.

Good luck with your stay here, I predict it will be short and I will be ignoring most of what you write since I don;t believe your motives or approach are sincere. And while you think you will be enlightening us peons with your vast amount of experience with ultra high dollar components, cables, etc.............in the end it's just another person's opinion and so far my opinion doesn't agree with your opinion.

and I don;t give a rats behind about your opinions.

    H9

I do realize I hit a wrong chord, but it is pretty hard to state an accurate representation of having made audio a pure focus from a trying virtually everything that gets good press and then conduct careful comparisons that start weeding out the "opinion" factor. I will work on keeping the condescending aspect out.

My foray into audio was not the typical well heeled audiophile jaunt where a guy can afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars so he gets to try far more things than most. I spent everything I had in terms of assets and borrowed to the hilt so as to be able to provide a service professionally to guys who don't have the time or resources to extensively compare arrays of products.

I had my wife sit with me for a few hours to see what changing wires back and forth for an hour and then switching preamps and doing it all over again is like. She never gave me any crap about sitting around listening to the stereo while she was working again. A typical in home demo of cable or equipment lasted anywhere from a few hours to as many as 10 or 12 and sometimes carried over to another day if I wanted to get something else to try in a system.

The value I have, and it isn't worth much to people who jump to hasty opinion calls that don't mean a thing, is that I have spent significant time with a lot of the A list components that people lean toward when looking to get the best bang for the buck. If someone says they are narrowed down to Pass Labs X-250 and Parasound what are they looking for, which one is best between the two? Or is there more value in hearing about something that exceeds the quality of the two items in question.

I took a long very hard look at Pass Labs as a line I carried, in fact Nelson Pass lives about 40 minutes from me. At that time I was also scrutinizing Audio Research and Balanced Audio Technology (BAT). I went with BAT and stocked every single item in their inventory to break-in and use for demo purposes. I had to borrow $80k from my wife's dad to put the whole line on like that. Of all of the dealers BAT has my guess is that most dealers cherry pick the line-up for the things they think they can sell well, I wanted to know what each and every product in their line was like.

You can come to the conclusion I'm full of bull and you don't like me but that will never change the fact that I can be an excellent resource for suggestions that are better and get you more for your money than anything you would think of. That in no way takes anything from your knowledge nor do I try to take anything away.

My style of demonstrating sleeper equipment was to take a known quantity excellent product and do A/B comparisons with that. I used B&W 800S speakers to show how the Meadowlark line sounded compared. I loved the 800's and listened to them for hundreds of hours but that did not stop me from leaning into speakers that were even better or more affordable with equal performance.

You don't have to give a rat's **** about my opinions for generally I don't deal with an opinion I deal with fact, I welcome dissenting opinion and usually stick to ground I can fairly easily prove. Not caring about my opinions will unfortunately not make me wrong.

As to "suspecting my motivations" ????? I made it clear I was building up the posts necessary to sell some gear, and I was going to send some pretty outrageous Valhalla class wires to people just to try because I can. The mode I sell things in is typically send it back if it doesn't work and I have flawless feedback elsewhere that would support a certain trustworthiness.

Oh, I am not religiously oriented and never disrespect anyone for their religious beliefs.

Don't let a hasty opinion of me get in the way of good advice, I'm sure there will be people over time that try things I recommend. I can't help it if I worked with a lot of the owners and engineers of manufacturers of great products and chose to get my education straight from guys who definitely know what they are talking about. My learning curve racked up hundreds of dollars a month in East coast phone bills, I couldn't get on the phone with these guys and keep it under an hour. When I had questions I called the guys who knew what they were talking about. When my customers asked a technical question I called someone who could really answer that question.

I'll do my best to treat people with respect even when they are reacting to something I say (or how I say it), It will help as people figure out I'm not coming from left field and I actually do know what I'm talking about.

Knowledge is fine and well...when questions are asked. But you still are coming across with that elitist attitude like you know more than everyone else here!
straight from guys who definitely know what they are talking about.

Again the I am THE king of knowledge attitude prevails. There are MANY here that "know what they are talking about!"

It will help as people figure out I'm not coming from left field and I actually do know what I'm talking about.

You will never prove that here! You are so far out in left field no one here can see you.

P.S. I have cheap Monster Cables. Can't afford anything better. Can you send me a free set of something better so I can demo them? :p

You dont get it do you? We as a collective group could care less what your background in audio is, there is no need to provide your audiophile credentials so to speak to us. We dont want nor do we need a new audio guru to lead us unwashed masses out of the darkness and into the light of your audio wisdom. You continue to insinuate that we as a group need this assistance, for example this statement.
that will never change the fact that I can be an excellent resource for suggestions that are better and get you more for your money than "anything you would think of"

You imply that anything we can come up with suggestion wise will be inferior due to your extensive knowledge and yet you say you are attempting to be less condescending? a perfect example of that is in the thread mentioned next.

You mention a thread where a fellow specifically asked about whether a Pass Labs X-250 or a Parasound amp would be a better fit for his speakers, then you take it upon yourself to make the decision to reccomend something entirely different without even considering or asking him if he had heard the amp you thought was a better fit. He may have heard this amp and hated the sound and then it really doesnt matter if it is a better built amp or not or whether it sounds better to you, that is your oppinion that isnt fact.

Simply try to fit in here as reccomended earlier and stop trying to impress us with your audio knowledge, connections, wealth, etc. Simply put we dont give a rats **** :D If you continue on in this manner you will be the most despised person on CP in short order.

My butt itches...I just wanted everyone to know for I am the foremost authority on the techniques of scratching one's butt...And for anybody wondering, I just did the 5 finger scratch with the left hand while drinking a sprite in the right hand and typing this with my toes, multitasking:eek::eek::D:p
What method would you suggest for scratching your arse in public while in a meeting while holding a hot cup of coffee in one hand and typing on your cell phone with the other hand oh Butt guru?

Perhaps the slide an glide on the chair? or would the wiggle worm side to side method be better under these condiions? :p

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    Amateur:rolleyes:...

You have no technique whatsoever. The art of the proper butt scratch is to find a woman with long fingernails willing to do it FOR you while handing you the remote!:D;) This way you can use your hands for other things like eating or whatever else may come to mind...

Ignore is tempting, but the entertainment value may be immense :)

True... there hasn't been a thread as entertaining as this since the days of old.

Was that "Old Polk/New Polk" or Old Coke/New Coke"
