... A tropical heat waaaave...

Yesterday I saw my highest temp on the back porch since I moved in 3 years ago... 100.2*f. Today has to be higher, as Weather Underground says that it's 102*F, and that's usually a few degrees under what it is at my house. Wish I were home to look at the thermometer! It probably will have cooled down a little by the time I get home.

How stinkin' hot is it where you are?
Ludicrous gibs!

Cracked 100 up here in the Merrimack Velley. Oppressively humid too. I'm usually not an A/C guy but you better believe it's cranking today.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Here's a weather station near my house, currently 107.2F (and it's only 11:45AM) but check out last friday, 119.5F, and that's in the shade.

Yes the humidity is low, but a blow torch is a dry heat too ;)

NOAA has current temps at 100 degrees and climbing. Thankfully humidity is down near 25% with a 9 MPH SW wind with gusts as high as 18 MPH. Barometer is steady at 30 inches. But expect that to change by the end of the week 'cause they are saying thunderstorms by Friday night.

Nasty here in Gatineau. Was close to 110 with humidex this morning and I believe it is somewhere around 120 this afternoon.

I needed to take my car this afternoon and the steering wheel was unbelievably hot. I am sticking inside (air conditionning) until I'm due to go home (1 hour travel in traffic and heat) and will definitely hit for the city indoor pool before going home.

A 14 year old young lad died yesterday when going up the step of a water slide. Must of had some heart problem as at this age you shouldn't die from effort in the heat.

Sometime we get good summers sometimes bad. It didn't start too well (some people were complaining that it was cool few days ago). I think we rarely get it that extremely hot.
Summers are fairly warm and humid in Ottawa, although they are moderate in length. The average July maximum temperature is 26 °C (80 °F), with occasional northerly incursions of comfortable, cool air which drop humidity levels, although daytime temperatures of 30 °C (86 °F) or higher are commonplace in most summers. A maximum temperature of 39.5 °C (103 °F) was recorded in the summer of 2005 at certain locations. During periods of hot weather, high humidity is often an aggravating factor, especially close to the rivers. Ottawa annually averages 41, 12 and 2 days with humidex (combined temperature & humidity index) above 30 °C (86 °F), 35 °C (95 °F) and 40 °C (104 °F) respectively. The highest recorded humidex was 48 °C (118 °F) on August 1, 2006.[23]

Spring and fall are variable, prone to extremes in temperature and unpredictable swings in conditions. Hot days above 30 °C (86 °F) have occurred as early as March (as in 2002) or as late as October, as well as snow well into May and early in October (although such events are extremely unusual and brief). Average annual precipitation averages around 943 millimetres (37 inches). The biggest one-day rainfall occurred on September 9, 2004 when the remnants of Hurricane Frances dumped nearly 136 mm (5½ inches) of rain in the city. The all-time monthly record is 243.4 mm (13.75 inches) set in July 2009. [24] There are about 2,060 hours of average sunshine annually (47% of possible).

Destructive summer weather events such as tornadoes, major flash floods, extreme heat waves, severe hail and remnant effects from hurricanes are rare, but all have occurred in the Ottawa area. Some of the most notable tornadoes in the region occurred in 1978 (F2), 1994 (F3), 1999 (F1), 2002 (F1), 2004 (F1) and west end Ottawa 2009 (F0).[25][26]

Oh, no way, it is just awful. It is hot and humid and the rain is even warm. I went out side all exited that I would get a cold shower, nope it was a hot rain. Just enough to wash my clothes had I had any tide.
Now that the rain has stopped, it is still humid and they have even opened up a couple private/ indoor pools that used to require a fee, to the public for the time being.

We are just ill equipped for the heat.

11:15pm here and it's 79.2 out with 84% humidity and a heat index of 83. Thanks to links in this thread I just discovered www.weatherunderground.com. So I'll be keeping tabs with humidity, now. Everyone says it's humid here..and it is...but now I can actually look it up.

And it rained today...totally didn't help anything.

Welcome to my world this time of the year... Hot, humid, and thunderstorms. :p

Actually, it's 91 at a little after 10 pm here, but I have something that most of you east coasters don't have....Whole house AC.

Hopefully it cools down a bit for you all, and everyone gets through it in one piece.

I had to 'Tiny URL' it because the URL itself might offend... ;)

This was today's temp in my neck of the woods--my thermometer topped out at 103--It was hot but not unbearable--At least I didn't have to work outside in it.

At least it looks like we'll get a storm to help break things up a bit on Wed.

UGH!!! Let the dog out at 7:00 AM, open the door and get hit in the face with a wall of heat and pea soup!. Check the weather online for my area 85 degrees w/52% humidity. The metorologist who posted those readings had to be drunk. Okay the 85 temperature but there is no way the humidity is 52%.
