I measured the temp in my truck when I left work yesterday at 138 degrees~with the windows OPEN about 2".

No A/C in the truck, so the 30 minute ride home was a bit toasty....

After serving for 6 months in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in '94 and Turkey from '96-2000, I'm not complaining about the heat here. 3 days after I arrived in Saudi, the temps were hitting 138 degrees F.

Humidity is on the rise here...as one local forecaster said, it's air you can wear.

It's currently 84* with 67% humidity. I actually turned the a/c on low before I left the house to keep it manageable for my poor kitty. Plus then it won't be 87 in the house when I get home like it was yesterday.
    Ludicrous gibs!

    Puny Canadians!

It's actually not even 90 degrees on the mercury(in the shade), but feels like 109 with humidex factored in.

For me, heat starts at 90. This isn't hot! I'm barely breaking a sweat in the sun. It could be the Texas in me, but I'm loving the weather right now.

Still, I digress, who wants to come to the cottage with me? The water should be around 72. Very refreshing!

almost every time we get massive heat waves filled with dirty air, they say " a mass of polluted air from the states has brought heat and humidity to our region". like the US are the only polluters in N-A.

I was taught that the Gulf stream(water) runs from Florida up to Newfoundland and then crosses the ocean.

The jet stream(air) does dip into the US sometimes but tends to come back up through Canada.

Of course being here in Canada, we write our history books differently! :D

Or maybe you just need an afternoon coffee! :p

Since when are "humid" and "Arizona" synonymous? Is Tucson different than Phoenix in that regard?

Monsoon season. We get tropical moisture out of the gulf, the thunderheads build up in the afternoon, and it thunderstorms. We get most of our rain from about now until mid/late Sept. It's also why swamp coolers don't work this tuime of the year.

It's not always a dry heat. :p Phoenix gets monsoon storms too, just not as much as here.

So, I noticed earlier today that it was only about 54% humidity outside when it's normally 80%+ humidity out at night. And it JUST hit me why that is, since the air is colder at night and has less of an ability to hold water, whatever the technical way is to explain that is.

So, should I feel really really stupid? Or just kinda dumb?

That 54% humidity yesterday morning was announced by a drunk weather man. There's no way what hit me in face at 7:00 AM was only 54% . . . more like 80%.

Cool facts about Phila weather yesterday (from Weather Underground)
... Record temperatures at Philadelphia PA Wednesday July 7 2010...

A record high temperature of 103 degrees was set at Philadelphia PA
on Wednesday July 7th. That broke the old record of 98 set in 1994.

The warmest temperatures ever at Philadelphia were 106 on August 7
1918. It was 104 on July 3 1966 and July 10 1936 followed by the
103 here yesterday which also occurred in several other years.

Additionally the low of 80 yesterday was also a record warm minimum
temperature for the date... surpassing the previous record of 79 in
    1999.

The average temperature of 91.5 yesterday was 4th warmest in
Philadelphia weather history dating back to 1872. The warmest
average temperature was 94 degrees on August 7 1918.

The two consecutive days of 100 degree heat was the 4th warmest two
    day period for Philadelphia.

85.7 right now with 73% humidity. Heat index of 91 and dew point of 76. Wouldn't be bad at all if it weren't for the humidity. Doesn't feel hot at all; because it isn't. But I can't walk for more than 40 seconds outside before I feel like I need a shower.

Okay, I'm sitting in my cousin, the podiatrist's office, entering some Medicare Claims for him. His office is in a very, very old stone house with no central air . . . they use window AC units to cool the various treatment rooms and waiting area, however the office I'm in has no windows thus no AC . . .

. . . I now can literally say, "I'm sweating my balls off!" As a matter of fact I could easily wring a cup of sweat out of my underwear!

Powder, corn starch, nothing works to keep me dry. . . I'm gonna puke it is so hot in this room. BTW no flourescent lights in here, four, yes, four 100 watt incandescent lights are on over my head!!!! I can't imagine the poor bastages who have to work outside in this heat!!! UGH!

    HELP ME!!!
