Can you rent it from them, or do they have one of those delay from release date deals? I guess the official release date is Thursday?

They do seem to be discounting this title as I've seen several 19 buck on release day ads.

I have one on preorder from Amazon. If the day the movie is released and it is advertised cheaper somewhere else in the US of A, then you get the best price from Amazon. I order all my BD this way.

Be sure to tear yourselves away from Avatar long enough to tell us if they used the extra space without supplemental content well in upgrading the PQ and AQ...

Amazon just emailed me today that my $19 copy of the Avatar BR is on the way!

They had a pre-release BR sale several weeks back, reported by a CP member. It was jumped onto. Kudos to this CP member and Club Polk in general!

Amazon shipped my blu-ray copy today. Hopefully by Saturday. If not, no biggie. Enjoy, bro.

I should have waited but I hate waiting on the USPS shipping bro. I ended up paying like 24 for it at the local electronics store here.

Wow, all the hype would have had this one of the most popular blu-rays ever. And priced to move with all the sales as well. Maybe too many people buying online?

Mind boggling on how they managed to squeeze in into one BD disc (I haven't received mine this morning, but I assumed the BD/DVD combo pack has one of eaches).

Here's a little tid-bit I found...I also read the film and audio track take up all 50 gigs, well 46 anyway, of the disc.

Good BD's have an average weighted bitrate around 22Mb. "Avatar" has an average weighted of about 34; peaks at over 40! (40.8), and never drops below 25. The DTS-MA track is also near perfect. with it's base rate at near 3.6Mb, high rate of 5.2!

Both of these absolutely press the boundaries of spec. People had wondered how to equate this, and they had shrugged off "superbit" comparison, but I don't know of any other way. There is no title released that I can think of that carries even close to the bitrate. And a large number of titles that we think of as "good" that are encoded at around 1/2 the bitrate.
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
