Marantz goes to the hospital
I've had my 8802A since June 18 2019. Purchased an extended warranty which expires June 18 2025.
My timing is not always this good. The power light is out, the 12v triggers no longer send a signal and the HDMI board is on the way out.
The warranty covers 2000. in repairs with 0 deductible. I'll be able to swap my Integra AVP in while the repairs are getting done.
In other news....this just in......last night, the owner of the house I've been renting the last three years, accepted my offer. This will soon be mine, first thing I'll do you ask?? I live at the top of a cul-de-sac and I'm going to run up and down the street naked, screaming, it's mine it's mine.....okay, maybe not that extreme. I'm going to finally be able to put together a bedroom set up.
The lease specified no wall mounted TV's, so that's what has been holding me back. Time to make some changes b*tches

Re: Building a vacuum tube tape preamp
Wow, quite an investment in knobs eh? Curious about the adjustment procedure.
The post for the RIAA curve reminded me of the older Scott gear I refurbed with the RIAA/NAB PEC module. The Teac 4000 preceded the 4010 and was just a transport with head out so you needed a receiver with NAB tape EQ and phono capability for the vinyl spinner.
These threads make me think about a Bottlehead Eros modded for NAB. IIRC The Eros uses a passive RIAA between the two gain stages. It punches way past its price point with premium tubes.

Re: THE joke thread
Henry was doing his math homework, muttering to himself:
“2 + 5, the son of a b*tch is 7.”
“3 + 6, the son of a b*tch is 9.”
His mother overheard and said,
“Henry! What is with all the cussing?!” 😳
“Oh Mom, don’t disturb me. I’m just doing my math homework.” ✏️🧠
“Is that how your teacher taught you?!” she asked.
“Yes, Mom.”
Fuming, she picked up her phone and called the teacher:
“Are you teaching kids by saying... 2 + 2, the son of a b*tch is 4?!” 😡📞
There was silence... then the teacher burst out laughing and said,
“What I said was... 2 + 2, THE SUM OF WHICH IS 4.” 😅🤣
