Re: Mitsubishi LT-30 Linear Arm Turntable
So Jay @agfrost stopped over to drop off some headshells/cartridges and visit the patient. He sees this and says, "They do exist!"
I've had to replace bulbs and speed LED's in my LT-5V. I replaced the tonearm bulbs with LED's. I used resistors to dim them and keep the current below max so they last. The vertical TT fits nicely on the shelf for my workbench system.

LT-5V

I found one of these cutaway drawings for the LT-5V. Maybe one exists for the LT-30.

Re: Looking for opinion on a next tower purchase
Thanks for adding to the thread. I have only seen a very small amount of traffic about the 15T, I dont think I have ever actually seen a pair for sale.
The LS90s are still my favorite speakers I own even after the crossover builds on mt 11Ts, the 11T is even better now but the LS90 is just goldilocks.
In another thread I mentioned I also bought a pair of JBL L7s, those are the undisputed SPL leaders of my speaker collection. I love them. I think the LS90s still do sound better but when it's time for thump, it's hard to beat the L7. They just rock and keep asking for more. I have yet to find their limit, I punched out before they did. The set I bought is in good / pretty good condition.
My next quest is to acquire a perfect "keeper" set of those L7s

Re: Looking for opinion on a next tower purchase
I know this old, but if you’re reading this, and you like the 11t, I would suggest you demo or somehow get a listen of some 15t’s. Very similar, to my ears anyway, but bigger. Just a bigger sound all around. Personally I love BIG! Big heavy speakers, big heavy class A amplifiers (krell ksa200). And Big sound. Now the 15ts don’t beat my dream big speakers, ads L2030!!! Personally, I don’t think the 15t’s even compare to the ls90 but they are basically a bigger version of the 11t. Just thought I’d mention that to ya. And yes everybody, I know the ads l2030’s belong nowhere in this thread, they’re just my BIG dream speakers. Like getting kicked in your chest when listening to. And that’s at low volume!!! lol. Happy listening everybody. And enjoy those ls90’s. The ls70’s are good too. Hell, even the ls 50’s are good. Btw I just picked up my first pair of ls90 after owning probably 100 different speakers, including I’m pretty sure damn near all of the old Polk stuff.

Re: NC mountains

THIS....this is why I love the Shenandoah mountains. The spring and summer are equally beautiful but this...this will be in just a week or two.

God's country.

Re: Building a vacuum tube tape preamp
Some updates on this project. I've really learned quite a bit in building this preamp, mostly from online contacts. I've enlisted the help of a fellow in the UK who helped me with mathematical modeling of the circuit. And, also curiously from ChatGTP, who I refer to as "Chatbot" to my wife. I found it to be pretty amazing, I ask it to analyze some data that I feed it and it scrolls out a detailed description of what happened and the mathematical explanation and makes very detailed recommendations on what I should do next. The better my question the more helpful the answers. It's not perfect, I've found a couple of instances where it was wrong and I've corrected it. But, it can do mathematical computations and give answers that are very helpful. I measure the playback frequency response with a calibrated test tape and it suggests component changes that will result in flatter response. I order the parts and when they arrive put them in the circuit and re-measure the results and feed them to Chatbot. Here is my current playback response:

Re: My 2024 Polk SDA 2b Modification Progress Thread (Drop1)
Factory braces are still in-place. So here's a pic with the polyfill in the cabinet. It fills the space just under the center brace and folds over itself to stay out of the way of the passive radiator. It's already getting pretty tight behind the MWs and I haven't even added the BH5 yet. Current plan is to add the dowels at just the point where the polyfill ends.

Hurricane nuts trimmed. I clamped 'em in a bench vice and used my Dremel with a metal cutting bit. Short work.

Are there not factory braces between the mids? If not, I'd suggest placing one there as well, in addition to what you propose. Great build/work here.
