Re: 'TL' or not?
Now if your talking SDA SRS 2.3's that's a whole new can of worms and a lot easier to figure out. The SDA SRS 2.3 on these the top and bottom driver of the vertical array of 4 will look like they have a ring or doughnut and the rest of the drivers will look the same also the tweeters (if stock) will have a silver like dome (The RDO-194 has a black dome). The SDA SRS 2.3TL will have black dome tweeter's and all the drivers will look the same. both have a pin/blade connector on the back. And before you ask NO you can't TL the non-TL version.

Re: Snub Way road test
Just a side note here, Mark has offered the unit he is sending at a price of $185 to one of us that auditions his product. If enough people show interest in this I guess it will go to a person via random number pick similar to karmas here. Also, I have absolutely no affiliation with Mark or his company, just a curiosity about this product.
I somehow missed this part of the roadshow. I would very much like to be considered for the opportunity to purchase this at the end of the rotation…
Officially withdrawing from consideration for the road show unit - I just placed my order using the summer sale code. Total was $229 and change shipped.
As strange as it sounds, I’ve been missing it ever since I shipped it off - that is perhaps the most concrete proof to me of its value, in my opinion.

Re: 8' non-biwire MIT Shotgun S3 speaker cable pr. w/original packing
Yeah I think you're right Brock. I always thought the internal workings of the black boxes would somehow alter - possibly degrade the signal. From what I'm hearing it the exact opposite. Everything is enhanced in ways that had me scratching my head. Everything is simple better sounding.
Here's a few pics of the boxes attached to the speaker stands. Nothing at all is visible from the front in my room.

Happy camper for sure.

Re: 2.3 vs 2.3TL
The adcom amp GFA-545II is 100 watts, it can drive 400 watt speakers with ease. So think a litte, its very conservative power.

Re: 2.3 vs 2.3TL
Big Dan,
Welcome to the forum.
The major difference is the tweeters, the 2.3 uses the SL2000 and the TL uses the SL3000. There was a peak in the SL2000 that the SL3000 corrected. I find the SL3000 to be smoother/less bright, but those are my ears. Are you planning on using the 2A's in the same room as the 2.3's or TL's? What kind of power are you planning to drive them with?

Re: polk audio sda 2.3 upgrade
westmassguy wrote: »It's different enough. The 194s and 198s have different impedance and frequency response. The 194s have a relatively flat response, while the 198's response drops as the frequency increases. A contour circuit is needed on single tweeter models like the CRS+/2B and all the Monitors. The more elaborate crossovers, with multiple tweeters required even more tweaking to get the progressive point source right. Don't let small changes in resistor, inductor, capacitor values fool you. A tremendous amount of re-design work, computer modeling, and extensive listening tests were done by some pretty smart fellas back in the day
Dave,
Thanks for the specifics and detail. The speakers sound good now, but what do I know, I haven't heard either of the rebuilt 2.3 versions as a comparison.
Ok, then the next question is when I get you to rebuild my crossovers, how difficult or more expensive, is it to do just the tweeter circuit for the "TL" version, and do the driver circuits as "standard" 2.3? I don't particularly want to change all the drivers out and do a complete TL conversion. Or should the entire crossover circuit be regarded as a complete integrated unit? Ie., you can't tweak just the tweeter circuit without effecting the whole speaker. (I suspect I just answered my own question?)
Just trying to work with what I've got, 6 of the 194s would be ~ $350. Granted I should be able to get some return on my existing 198s.
Cheers!
I strongly urge you not to consider a "frankenpolk". The engineering work has already been done. Nothing wrong with 2.3s. Undo all that was done incorrectly, then do right.

Re: Post a picture.....any picture...part deux...
If you've ever been walking through the woods & startled one into flight, the idea of an F-15 Strike Turkey isn't that far fetched.
Let's just say it was a good thing I was wearing my brown pants.
Happened to me too. I stopped to go #1 on a trip back home on a side road off the highway. I walked a few feet up to a tree.
Well, up above me in the tree was a wild turkey I didn't see. I was getting ready to pee and BAM!!!!BOOM!!!BAM!!!!BOOM!!!! HOLY mother of God!!!
Thought my life here on earth was about to be snatched down to hell. SERIOUSLY.
