It is supposed to be a Theater, right? 95+dB is part of the experience. Believe me, the volume doesn't approach what I hear in my local Dolby Cinema.
Maybe bits of 3M tape at the corners of the acoustic tiles to bind them lightly to the frame?
Scott, I think more noise comes from the metal/metal connections in the tile grid, not from the tiles to metal interface. Actually, I think I recall hearing more coming from inside the walls and from glassware in the bar last time I walked around during a heavy low bass segment. Overall, it is greatly reduced from years past. I think the real winner was wrapping back of the air vent in dynamat. The grid in my current theater is square too. My old house was rectangular and I think the longer spans caused more flex/noise.
I was just curious if Phil had any issues, but it sounds like he doesn't. It also sounds like even with 4 subs, he listens at a bit lower level than I typically do (for movies).

Local imax and atmos is borderline an aural assault fit for torture
Top gun easily peaked over 120db

I try to match the Dolby Cinema experience 🤣pearsall001 wrote: »Curious, for real. How does that drop ceiling handle all those subwoofers? Mine vibrates like crazy with just one SVS. I'd love to know if there is a trick to control that.
Of course, my area is a fair bit smaller for the theater.
How hot are you running the sub? Maybe your SPL is way too high. I never had any issue with any sub/subs vibrating the drop ceiling.
No, not really, I have the sub level matched with a test tone/pink noise. Some movies just shake the walls and ceilings, like Blade Runner 2049. I noticed some of the bottles in my bar were moving closer to the edge of the shelf after that movie!
I think it was worse at my old house, but in hindsight, more of that noise came from the old florescent light fixtures. I took those all out of my current house and just have the shallow 1-piece LED cans which are silent as can be. After that swap, I think I pinpointed the air vent as a source of rattle, so I put some old dynamat on the back side of that. Vibrations are minimal now, but I'm not sure if that would be true with all those RELs in my room.

Re: AQ Chocolate HDMI Cables Good for 4k?
Audioqest made a few new HDMI cables in the Chocolate range over the years. I assume you have the original Chocolate cables? If they don't say 4k or 4k/8k on the head , they maybe 10-18g cables.
I suggest before you buy any new ones , test them on your system and see if they limit your max resolution. If they do then you need to get new cables, if not your good to go.

Mrs. H, needless to say, is a long time contributor. The combination of cold weather and some snow has brought the cardinals out of the woodwork at our house this morning. Mrs. H knows from experience that if she enters a large number for certain species (e.g., Northern Cardinal) they ask for some evidence.
That's where I come in!
twenty of them rascals this morning.
Mind you, there were zero cardinals reported in this area until 1969. Now, as shown above, they're pretty common.
But none are getting anything from that feeder until the Blue Jay is done!
