Re: how to untwist the plastic terminal caps?

Okay yes I figured. Is there a high chance of a new dome/coil alone fixing it or is it possible something else has gone wrong too? Also, is there anything I need to be cognizant of when installing it? - is there a tutorial somewhere or is it literally just unsolder the old one, place the new one in the centre, solder it on.
Worth mentioning there is a brown liquid on the coil that rubs off on my fingers.... (see pic)
Thanks again very much everyone for the help. This stuff is all brand new to me lol
Ok, the brown material is Ferrofluid. It is highly likely it is no longer any good due to the high temperature the tweeter has seen, so you'd need to remove the old fluid and replace with new.
There should be videos online detailing both.
Yes, I was shared a video on how to replace Ferrofluid on my last thread. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and it is illegal to buy (import too? idk) Ferrofluid here. Should I just wait for used tweeters on facebook then?

But none are getting anything from that feeder until the Blue Jay is done!
Now, here in the Midwest, when the Cardinals show up, EVERYTHING scatters at the bird feeder.
......even the sunflower stealing squirrels !

Re: LSi with LSiM?
I agree the LSiM is going to be easier to drive with a receiver. The Onkyo model is listed as 4 ohm stable by the manufacturer but it won't produce a lot of power. Recommend giving it plenty of breathing room above and to the sides to limit heat build up and avoid running it too loud. If you don't have a subwoofer already, I'd recommend getting one and running the speakers as "small' in the setup menu.
I consider the LSiM line to be considerably better speakers all around than the LSi line. I would likely keep the LSiM speakers matched for the front soundstage and use the LSi15s somewhere else in a different system. The speakers are not too dissimilar in sound quality to be used together but appearance is important too.

Re: Schiit
I dunno. I remember listening to a cheap Radii chi-fi (I think it was a Chinese build) 8-watt tube amp that sounded rather impressive. I need to find that and pull it out again. I haven't seen it in a very long time.
