Well if you don't like the sound as they are, then do not upgrade the XO. It really is that simple.
Every speaker I have upgraded the XO sounded MUCH better than stock. I liked the stock presentation and the better XO caps, resistors and inductors just made it a ton better in every way.

I remember those days. The Scott 399 showed tape as "NARTB" while the 340 had it as NAB.
