Re: Former President Jimmy Carter Dies
As a former Navy Nume tuber, Carter made it through 7 half-lifes of plutonium 241, so I'd have to say that he done did good.
The build up of xenon in his system must have impaired his ability to remain critical.

LS800 review
When I went to pick them up, I determined the left SDA side wasn’t functioning. Everything else was fine. Turns out the binding post were broken off while trying to move. They replaced all the binding post. I don’t know what was wrong but made a deal hoping it was an easy fix. When I got home and hooked them up, everything was working properly. I assume something is loos inside, but I am not going to worry about it unless it goes back out again.
I spent the day running from my 1.2tl in one room to the L800 in the next.
Playing same songs on each one.
They both sound great and the imaging is great on both
If I had to explain, I would say the 1.2’s are warmer with better midrange.
The L800 are faster and more accurate with a better high and low end
I have no idea how many hours are on the 800’s.
I have 30 inches to each side wall so I installed some acoustic panels. I have no experience with them, but it really improved the sound. The SDA soundstage was wider, but still not as wide as the 1.2tl’s which have much more space to the side walls. I will remove the subwoofers between the speakers and side walls to see if that helps
I am not sure what want a wider soundstage as I am using in a 7.2.4 system with 4 in ceiling speakers. Running an Arcam AVR5 with a 7 x200 B&K amp.
Muck more listening to come. Also have Dirac but haven’t tried running that yet
Still early, but these speakers are even better than I thought they would be.
Thank to all the folks on the forum putting up with all my questions, especially Nooshinjohn.
I will be keeping the L800 and the 1.2tl’s for along time!

Re: Polk Monitor 11A Speakers
The Monitor 11A is different than the Monitor 11 with the Peerless tweeter. I do not believe the 11A has a dedicated left and right cabinet. It's basically a larger Monitor 10.
This is the 11A.
I did some (vlittle) digging. Interesting info archived. Came across recent thread posted above. Valuable info is out there. When I had the Monitor 11s I really enjoyed them more then the Monitor 10s. I had to make room for other gear, so they moved along

Re: Bad Christmas for Me
There’s a lot of weird stuff going on and the ENT professionals thus far have said none of it is out of line with an issue with the balance function of the inner ear.
The headaches are caused when driving or at work staring at the computer screen, IE when I’m focusing hard on something that used to be easy to do.
About to go into the Hyperbaric Chamber for the first time to see if that helps at all. Luckily was able to get a referral to a local Sentara wound therapy center for HBOT as there has been some success with HBOT helping with inner ear problems.

To this point, no improvement. Just terrible Tinnitus. Also lots of other weird stuff with my eyes being able to focus and stabilize and headaches. It’s going to be a long road but as long as my body learns to cope with the other stuff, I’ll learn to survive with the hearing. Good news is I don’t need to spend big money on stereo stuff anymore lol.
I’ll keep my DIY speakers and NAD M10V2 and pick up a cheaper record player/phone so I can still at least enjoy the music
This is not right. Something doesn’t make sense.
Visual disturbance and headaches. Never seen that with isolated ear anomaly.
That does not sound right.
