Re: Post a picture.....any picture...part deux...
Last Thursday I left Paris, TX at 9:45am and arrived in Encinal, TX (about 45 minutes from Laredo) around 6:00pm. Headed back to Paris around 9:30pm and got back home a little after 4:00am. Long day of driving almost from the Red River to the Rio Grande. About as far as you can go from north to south excluding the panhandle.

Re: Weather at Your House?
First significant snow in Metro Atlanta since December 2017? I had 3-4" overnight and then it started sleeting and turning the nice powder into a slushy mess. We are supposed to have a freezing rain later and a hard freeze tonight. Things probably won't thaw until Sunday or Monday. Side roads receive no treatment from the county, so I won't be going anywhere for a couple days.

That's Elvis and Joan Blackman in "Blue Hawaii" (1961).
^^^^^^
I like history, Elvis, and love Hawaii!
The 1961 musical comedy Blue Hawaii was filmed in Hawaii on Oahu and Kauai.
Filming locations on Oahu
Waikiki Beach: A famous beach in Honolulu
Hanauma Bay Beach Park: A volcanic crater beach near Hawaii Kai
AlaMoana Park: A park near Waikiki Beach
Polynesian Cultural Center: Located at 55-370 Kamehameha Highway, Lä'ie
Filming locations on Kauai
Coco Palms Resort Hotel: Located at 241 Kuhio Highway, Kapaa
Lydgate Beach: Located on the east side of the island
Wailua River: A river on Kauai
Coco Palms Resort was a resort hotel in Wailuā, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi, that was noted for its Hollywood connections, Hawaiian-themed weddings, torch lighting ceremonies, destruction by a hurricane, and long-standing land disputes. The resort includes or is near to many culturally significant spots and the sites of some of the most important legends and historical events for Native Hawaiians.
The famous wedding scene was filmed at the Coco Palms Resort Hotel. The hotel was destroyed by Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and a fire in 2014. Only two hurricanes have ever made landfall in Hawaii.
Elvis Presley also stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village during filming. The hotel's open-air entrance was used in the movie.

In the early 1980's while on a business trip to Bank of Hawaii in Honolulu, a business colleague, who knew the history of the CoCo Palms Resort, and I stayed at the Coco Palms for a weekend.
By no means was the Coco Palms a luxury hotel; it was built to the standards of the early 1950's. The suite that Elvis occupied during the filming was still there as it existed during the filming. I witnessed the every evening occurrence of the torch-lighting ceremony described below. There were monkey families that had escaped in prior years in the coconut groves .
I remember walking across the highway late one afternoon to sit on the beach and watch the waves. It was the winter season, and the waves were enormous. I was the only person the beach.
Kinda of ironic but we stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village before and after the weekend trip to Kauai. We also went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay on Oahu.
Of course we found time for some work. (and Blue Hawaii's)

On January 25, 1953, the Coco Palms lodge opened with 24 rooms, five employees, and two guests. The lodge consisted of the main residence, which had been converted into the former businessmen's lodge, with eight rooms, and an additional 16 rooms in a reconfigured army surplus barracks.
The entire property was set in front of the beach and encompassed 35 acres, with over 2,000 coconut trees remaining from the former Lindemann coconut plantation. Although believed to have been a royal grove, the coconut grove was planted in 1896 by William Lindemann, a German immigrant.
While the exact origins of a Hawaiian torch-lighting ceremony are unknown, the use of this incarnation of Hawaiian culture, performed at many Hawaiian hotels, began at the Coconut Palms The ceremony would become a big part of the Coco Palms story. Hawaiians dressed in a traditional malo would blow a conch shell and beat a drum, as the call was answered by one man running across the coconut grove, lighting torches on his way until the entire lagoon was lit
The event would be followed by an hour-long Polynesian-themed show in the dining room. Bruscher had a firepit built for roasting a pig in full view of guests to entice them into the Lagoon Dining Room, one of three dining areas at the hotel.

Re: Weather at Your House?
My sister had to evacuate from her home in Hollywood because of the mandatory evacuation orders.
Over 6000 homes and structures have been completely destroyed. No containment in sight.
A smokey sunset in LA.
