Re: Grabbed a pair of ES20's
I have to say these have worked out spectacularly. If anyone is looking for an even more budget friendly pair of speakers than the R200's, these are it. The articulation and soundstage is excellent. Sometimes on movies I swear I hear sounds coming from around me. Kind of like SDA but obviously a lot more subtle.
The Marantz PM6007 integrated has been great as well. I run the audio out of the tv via toslink to the internal dac. Hard to believe this little "TV" system which also does some Spotify streaming duty for background music cost around $1k. I'm sure the MIT AVt speaker cables help a bit as well.
It has worked out much better and performed much better than anticipated. My GF loves the simplicity of using one remote (cable TV box) to run everything. I did put my APC HT15 power conditioner into the rig as well.

I’ll bring the chips….
Y'all obviously haven't been to a dispensary lately. The names are much more creative now.
I like my security clarence's, so no I've never been in one.

Re: You’re doing it wrong…
In Building 101 we learnt that just a couple of well placed angle braces or a correctly placed sheet of plywood keeps the house of cards from falling over.
I don't see an easy fix for that one other than take it all down and start over or it will never be right.

Re: Building an Ampex MR-70 playback preamp
There is a great deal of interest in tape gear throughout Europe and Asia. Lots of small groups producing carefully recorded tapes of chamber music and small jazz ensembles. Coming up with modifications to classic designs, very clever.

Did someone hide his bathroom?
Dude, we live in the sticks. The world is our bathroom, when - and as - necessary.
So this will be your epitaph...
Here lies Mark Hardy. The world was his bathroom.
