Re: Post a picture.....any picture...part deux...
Hey Mark - beautiful photos here! got any details on this comet? I was out riding in the country last night and one of the skymap charting apps said there was supposed to be a comet visible, but I couldn't see it. It would have been in the western sky here. Maybe I needed some slow shutter, time lapse or a telescope. I did just barely make out the Milky Way, though. Looking forward to Winter Skies...
Who's this @msg fellow?? Is he new??

Re: Teac 4010SU R2R
This was the most tedious recapping I have ever done. PCB is not marked. Some values in my amplifier are different than those listed in manual. Over 250,000 decks made, not all revision documentation available.
Some caps indicate positive leg while most show negative. I documented capacitor placement with drawings and pictures. I had to dust off my organizational skills.

Used a light to help locate capacitor position.

They left component leads long, like through hole of PCB and point to point. After desoldering, the legs are still stuck together and to PCB. Have to carefully use flux/wick to separate. If you force a stuck lead, you could pull trace off PCB.
Components with single leads, I could use edge of Hakko nozzle to lift off PCB.

All fini.

Good news, no smoke/exploding caps, loud hissing or humming from speakers and it still works! Next up, calibration.

Yes, a local plastics fabricator made it. There are some folks who make some wild reels.

The Buell would need fresh brakes and tires before you got a hold of it. Even if it were just a trip to the grocery store.
"Max throttle always, max brakes at the last possible second, peg scraping steep lean. That's all you need to know about riding." @Geoff4rfc, circa sometime
Brakes are highly overrated my friend.....tires??? Thats another story......

Re: Borrow Velodyne remote
Thanks guys I do have a harmony remote and will try that out. I’ll update you guys if it works or not.
I think the remote once to set everything to defaults would be good for now. I got the sub extremely cheap but it didn’t come with the remote or the mic accessories. Even without everything I’m really enjoying the sub so far. I wouldn’t be able to afford it anytime soon if I didn’t get lucky with the deal.
I saw some kits on ebay that I may get one day but they don’t come with the remote.

You are young at heart, Dan. I can tell, and FWIW (for what it’s worth) you don’t look “old” at all in that superb photo with the Mustang convertible driving the twisties. 😉
Thanks, my wife would agree, I'm just a big kid playing with toys LOL. I actually made her stomach a bit queasy how I drove that road at first. I had to back off a bit , and honestly after the first time through, I felt a little disoriented as it's madness. That amount of turns in 11 miles is insane. I had a ton of fun though. I did it twice

Re: Calling MSG, where are you?
ah shucks, you guys. thanks for noticing!
yeah, I was just taking a little break from our anti-social-media-social-media forum.
just reading, listening to tunes, pondering on Man and the Universe...
trying to get back to some basics. cooking, exercise, punching the scrote*... you know, the usual.

took a little liberty with this in post processing to bring out some shadow detail and add a little dramatic effect. the second photo is more what it was it like out there just after sunset. This is in NC near the Currituck Sound.
@Geoff4rfc - took the Buell out for a spin... it's nice out there on the quiet country roads in the eves...
